 Re: "American Horror Story: Hotel"
Just watched the first episode. The rape scene with Max Greenfield was disgusting and tasteless (it also had a somewhat inappropriate subtext knowing what happened to Cory Monteith and Ryan Murphy's relationship with him). The rest is decent so far. I do think it's hands down the darkest, creepiest premiere they've done yet though. I guess the campiness of past seasons has moved over to "Scream Queens."

 Re: "American Horror Story: Hotel"
I'm not sure how I feel about this season yet. It seemed to be all about the shock value and lacked substance. Lady Gaga is definitely a step down from Jessica Lange in the acting department.

 Re: "American Horror Story: Hotel"
Well Ryan and Cory were super close and I just felt like it was in bad taste to show Max Greenfield shooting up heroin and dying alone in a hotel room (and the rape itself was supposed to represent addiction anyway) considering it was exactly what happened with Cory. But I may be reading too much into it. It just rubbed me the wrong way.

 Re: "American Horror Story: Hotel"
The way Cory phrased his comment, I thought he was inferring Ryan Murphy sodomized Monteith against his will.

Finn Wittrock is back!
Last night's episode was OK but insanely, ridiculously overlong. There is no fucking reason this had to be almost TWO HOURS long. Sarah Paulson and Mare Winningham are the best parts so far.

I loved the bits with Evan Peters. So far these two episodes nailed it. Let's hope it continues to be good.

 Re: "American Horror Story: Hotel"
I enjoyed the second episode a lot. Right now, almost every element feels right. The decadent-fluorescent-Gothic production design. The '90s-Fincher vibe of the Wes Bentley subplot. The madcap 1920s scenes, which almost play as a torture-porn remix of The Great Gatsby. The nearly constant and perfectly brooding hum of Bauhaus/Joy Division/Siouxsie and the Banshees/etc. songs.
At this early point, Hotel is what I want American Horror Story to be: an absurd, gory, sexy, stylish ride flying past the land of coherency and logic (HE BRINGS HIS DAUGHTER TO THE CREEPY HOTEL!) on its way to the inferno. No story thread is an obvious and crushing nonstarter yet, and every actor is allowed to have fun and indulge their fabulous/theatrical instincts without anyone suffocating the scene (the way, say, Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates did last season as Not Quite Marlene Dietrich and the Baldimorese circus matriarch, respectively).

 Re: "American Horror Story: Hotel"
This season is terrible. After the second episode I feel like it would have to have some sort of miraculous turnaround not to end up the worst season so far. Pretty much every storyline and character is a bore. I thought it would be hard for it to be worse than Freakshow but even that had some good elements. I doubt I get that far into this season. The second episode was a chore to get through.

No season of American Horror Story maintains internal cogency or exhibits anything resembling thematic or even stylistic consistency, but Coven featured many wonderful characters and a solidly told story. It is hands down the best and most entertaining season. Yep. And this season has me missing that one.

Really? I thought it was kind of mediocre. Evan Peters is HORRIBLE this season. Totally miscast.

 Re: "American Horror Story: Hotel"
I only watched the first season of AHS. Haven't been even remotely interested in continuing the show even though I really liked the first season. But I'll watching Hotel because my boyfriend is watching it. It's so terrible. It's great if you want to laugh.

 Re: "American Horror Story: Hotel"
I loved seeing all those killers and Lily Rabe's performance (but where was Ted Bundy?) Evan Peters is killing it this year. I enjoy the Chloe Sevigny parts of the story too. I am a defender of Freak Show but in comparison Hotel is a more inspired and focused piece of art so far. This is AHS the auteur as much as ever

This is better than "Freak Show." Then again, watching paint dry would be as well.

This past week's episode was great. The school scene was super disturbing, and Denis O'Hare and Kathy Bates were fantastic.

 Re: "American Horror Story: Hotel"
At this point, I still dig this season a lot. Lots of compelling characters and visuals. There is plenty of standard-issue American Horror Story bull (I will never not be amused by the Wes Bentley character being able to close his eyes and sleep in the hotel...where he has glimpsed his dead son, met either the ghost of John Wayne Gacy or a copycat, etc.), but it is a blast and very cool.

 Re: "American Horror Story: Hotel"
I thought it was amazing and a high point for American Horror Story in general.
