Looks better than the first season (which isn't hard to top). Can't wait, mostly because of Rachel.

 Re: True Detective: Season 2
I'm a huge fan of Season 1, up to and including the end. I'm not sure how I feel about the trailer. Everything about it is perfect, but there's not a whole lot to go on. Even with my love of all things McAdams, I most excited to see a more dramatic Vince Vaughn. Took him a long time to come back around to darker roles.

Colin Farrell for the win! Looks awesome, although not as good as the first season. I'm excited anyway.

I'm also fairly interested to see Vaughn in a dramatic role. He looked to be good in his first glimpses.

 Re: True Detective: Season 2
Taylor Kitsch adds a level of cheapness to this one that I don't feel comfortable with. Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, and Rachel McAdams are all looking to be good, but Taylor, ugh, just slightly ruins it for me. I just hope it is going to match the first in terms of dialogue and grittiness. The first, for me, is a TV crime masterpiece.

 Re: True Detective: Season 2
Apparently there is an orgy scene, and they're casted two porn stars to "act" in it. But those porn stars don't get nude.

I'm looking forward to this. I see McAdams dying. She looks to really be on the front line of things.

 Re: True Detective: Season 2
The writer strikes me as someone with a big ego that only grew after Season 1, which will end up hurting the show and its future. Probably should've remained a miniseries and not an anthology show.

 Re: True Detective: Season 2
A few of the mixed-to-negative reviews, in my opinion, are a bit confused and unrealistic regarding the prior season. A few, for instance, chastise this one for relying on flawed-and-hard-men-of-violence (Lone Wolves Who Live by Their Own Code) action-movie archetypes as if this were not largely true of the Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson characters.
The first season is the story of two almost-outside-the-law cops finding a luridly maniacal serial murderer in the Texas Chainsaw vein. Pulpy genre tropes are part of True Detective's DNA.

Alexandra Daddario is missing from season 2, thus a decline in quality was foreseen.

 Re: True Detective: Season 2
I still regard Season 1 as a near-masterpiece. I'm one of the few that dug the finale. But it feels untouchable. You can't beat Woody and McConaughey in a gritty, gothic crime drama.

 Re: True Detective: Season 2
The premiere was...OK. At times it really did feel like a parody of itself. And none of the Vince Vaughn stuff makes any sense or works so far. I still believe he was miscast.
However, the main three cops are interesting and I definitely thought it picked up once Colin Farrell went to that parent's house. Rachel was also great as was Taylor Kitsch, and I'm interested to see where things go.

 Re: True Detective: Season 2
I thought it was fantastic and on par with the first episode of the first season. Shrug.

I was indifferent towards season 1 - at least this time I'm curious as to where the story goes.

 Re: True Detective: Season 2
Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who decided to binge watch this over a two day period. Season 1 was pretty fantastic and I didn't mind the slow build at all. McConaughey and Harrelson were great and I couldn't get enough of their back and forth. Also, while Alexandria Daddario is incredibly hot I have to agree with Algren that Lili Simmons easily has the better body and just melts the damn screen. Michelle Monaghan hasn't lost it either and I felt bad for her character having to put up with a lying/cheating prick like Woody lol!. Watched the first episode of Season 2 aswell and although it didn't blow me away it definitely has potential. Farrell/Vaughn seem like their going to be the most interesting characters so far.
