Re: GOTHAM CITY TV Series Thread
I'm fine with penguin. Not only is the actor great, but it fits into the show since his murder spree resulted from Gordon doing the right thing. Nigma is fine as long as they keep him to one comedic scene a week. Bruce, I imagine is just there for promos, and once the show gains a foothold they will scale back on him in favor of the Falcone storyline. This weeks wasn't as thrilling as lasts, but I was still hooked in by the case of the week. The nazi girl was legitimately unsettling. I continue to love the dynamic between Gordon and Bullock. "What do you mean we're not gonna beat him? I just said I was gonna beat him."

Re: GOTHAM CITY TV Series Thread
The second episode was fun. I agree that the atmosphere of the show is the best part so far. Also, Jada Pinkett Smith's scenery chewing in this episode was off the charts Also, Lili Taylor was great as the villain of the week.

Re: GOTHAM CITY TV Series Thread
The problem with the show is they wrap it too much with procedural story telling. I would say around 10-15 minutes is serialized but even some of that stuff is boring especially that lesbian angle. If it was not for Cobblepot, I would have stopped watching

Bruces plot makes a lot of sense to me, I mean it's fun to see how he 'gets' his detective skills so young,,,even Alfred teaches him how to fight, lol

Re: GOTHAM CITY TV Series Thread
Third episode was a total mess. The story of the week with Balloonman was good, but it got like 12 minutes of the airtime. You can't have Gordon solving two different cases + Jada + Penguin + Bruce + Lesbians + needing to restate all of the core information for new viewers. There just isn't enough time. Just cutting out the Wayne stuff this week and focusing on it next would give every storyline room to breathe.

Re: GOTHAM CITY TV Series Thread
Big improvement over the last episode, as the two main plotlines were actually tied together. The Bruce and Fish scenes were as useless as usual, but at least there weren't too many this week. Still, why is Jim Gordon consulting Alfred the Butler about police matters? He's leaking very sensitive information.

Actually, it has never sucked You just had to give the poor Bruce time to understand him

Magnus wrote: Him overcomig fear was stupid and forced. Him trying to uncover the corruption of his parents company is solid and actually fits within the story. Okay, so I am currently not watching, but a 12-year old trying to uncover corruption doesn't read all that well.

Re: GOTHAM CITY TV Series Thread
Finally watched episode 2. Still digging it, but I hope this Bruce Wayne business goes somewhere. It feels forced to have him appear every single week. I feel like it's going to be a liability much of the time.

Re: GOTHAM CITY TV Series Thread
There's a fun fan theory out there that claims Cobblepot is actually The Joker, not The Penguin. Not something I had considered, but would be more consistent with his behavior.

The Joker really only works WITH Batman. But I would love to see Harley Quinn on the show eventually.

Harley Quinn makes sense.
In the context of the show, The Joker does not. But logic be damned, I'm sure he will be a part of the show.

Re: GOTHAM CITY TV Series Thread
So does anyone think Bruce Wayne will ever become Batman on the show, like by Season 7 or 8, should the show survive that long, or will he always be Bruce Wayne?
Cause if the whole show is just the buildup to Batman, I think it would be fun to see Crispin Glover play The Joker, if they ever go with someone. It doesn't have to be someone younger if there's never going to be a Batman vs. Joker showdown on the show itself.

Regarding Harley Quinn, I remember someone calling her last name in the first episode, so I'm sure she will appear
