But I just keep reading how ridiculous it is.
The novel it is based on is pretty good actually...

 Re: Under the Dome
I enjoyed the first season. It can be campy and pulpy, sure, and Linda is the most inept cop in television history, but it also has a handful of great characters and is almost always engaging. I would give it a B, and I am excited for the second season.

 Re: Under the Dome
It's fun to watch. Mainly because of how ridiculous it is. My friend and I are constantly yelling at the tv to the extent of "YOU'RE THE WORST COP EVER I HOPE YOU DIE"

 Re: Under the Dome
I seriously dig the characters of Barbie and Big Jim, though. No irony. I believe they have an engaging protagonist/antagonist dynamic, and my interest in it compensates for the cornier science-fiction elements.

Big Jim is a good antagonist in the novel.
I could never get over Barbie as the main character's "name", though...

Please tell me you didn't find the below dialogue anything other than laughter-inducing. Barbie: "I think we know who you are." Big Jim: "A criminal?" Barbie: "Worse...a politician." Also, can someone please tell me what the actual fuck was up with this clock in that one scene? Props Guy, you had ONE job to do and you failed miserably. What time is this supposed to be? Eleventy o-clock?

 Re: Under the Dome
Bit of a cheesy line, but it didn't phase me in any major way.
You seem to watch this in search of moments to find cringe worthy and campy. Which is fine, I s'pose. Or at least very fashionable.

And to this show's credit, it's like the world's most intelligent and logical show compared to The Following which I most often compare it to. That show is so freaking ridiculous and poorly constructed that it functions as a comedy despite all the gore.

 Re: Under the Dome
Oy. This show. They killed one of the few moderately interesting characters and moderately talented actors (Angie/Britt Robertson), really?
This episode was better than a lot of season 1, but that might've just been because Stephen King wrote it.

Good episode. And I'm SO GLAD they killed that damn cop. She was literally the worst.

Although I was kind of looking forward to seeing if they would reveal a plot twist this season that she was legitimately mentally disabled to explain her behavior last season.

I was hoping for a little more splatter when the SUV crushed her, but alas.
I really don't know why they killed off Angie.

Pfft, fine. WHATEVER.
It took a lot more for you to bail on THE FOLLOWING, yet you're out on this? Lame.

The only good things about this show now are Dean Norris recognizing what a stupid show he's in and delivering an over-the-top performance, and Norrie/Forehead Girl occasionally saying funny, sarcastic things. Everything else just sucks. The Science Teacher is like the worst character on the show by a mile, and when that includes Stupid Teenager Joe, you're in trouble.

 Re: Under the Dome
The science teacher is awful. And Joe/Norrie are annoying. In fact, almost everything on the show is annoying except Barbie because *drool*.
I probably mainly just watch it out of boredom.

Heh, this is fun to watch just to see what ridiculousness they think of next. A tunnel underneath the school to a giant hole in the Earth?!
I'm in.

I have no idea what they're doing. I don't know if they know what they're doing. But I'm still watching.
It still makes no sense.

 Re: Under the Dome
I thought last night's episode represented an improvement. Not spectacularly so, but the portal-to-another-city storyline increased my interest level a bit.

Well yeah, they had to do something. But it doesn't make much sense.
And what the hell does the red door do?! WHAT DOES IT DO?! Is this the sequel to LOST?!

 Re: Under the Dome
Anyone else still watch this? The two-hour season premiere tries to go "high concept," at least by the Under the Dome standard. Big Jim, Julia, and Melanie are still under the dome, and everyone else is transported to an alternate reality in which they falsely believe they are liberated, but they slowly notice their environment's Matrix/Truman Show-style properties. The alternate-reality conceit lets them fill time with extraneous diversions and tangents, such as Commando Barbie participating in a siege in Yemen and Sam, in prison for murdering Angie, becoming an AA guru. And everyone is under the dome again by the end. Along with Marg Helgenberger. Ha. I wish they played with the Lost-lite alternate-reality idea for more of the season. At least it promised a change of pace.
