 House of Cards
So...Netflix is premiering its first original series, House of Cards, February 1 (this Friday). A lot has been written about Netflix's new programming strategy where all 13 episodes of a series will premiere at one time on their streaming service (just like the Arrested Development revival in May).
The series has considerable pedigree: produced by David Fincher, starring Kevin Spacey, with a supporting cast including Robin Wright, Kate Mara, Corey Stoll and Kristen Connolly.
I have no idea when I'll start watching this or how long it'll take me to get through the episodes, but thought I'd start the thread now.

I was going to start a similar thread soon.
Yeah I'm really excited for this. The cast is fantastic and having Fincher direct is just the icing on the cake. I'll probably watch all 13 episodes this weekend.

Yeah, I'm excited and expect to watch at least the first couple this weekend. It's supposed to be great.

 Re: House of Cards
I just finished watching the first episode, will probably watch a couple more tonight.
It's definitely intriguing and not shitty. The episode stars out a bit slow, and confusing with all the characters introduced, but the last half-hour proved this show can be something special. Fincher's direction is good so far and Spacey is great.

 Re: House of Cards
Well first of all, how far are you into the show?
I can see what you're saying but I think the first episode had to pull some extremes but I have a feeling the perceptions will change on both sides as the series goes on.

It's nothing we haven't really seen before but I'm not going to stop watching. It's addicting... everything I wanted out of Boss that I didn't get.

 Re: House of Cards
So I finished this last night and it's one of the best first seasons I have seen from a show. Very gripping stuff with wonderful performances. I am surprised the show took a lot of the roads it did especially with Spacey and the show as a whole are a shoe-in for Emmy nominations with Wright and Stoll being strong contenders as well for nominations, maybe Michael Kelly as well. Too bad we have to wait till next year for the next 13.

Corey Stoll deserves the Best Supporting Actor Emmy. He's INCREDIBLE on this show.

 Re: House of Cards
I had nothing to do on Sunday, so I watched all 13 episodes [/loser].
I liked it a lot. But I'm a huge fan of political dramas and Kevin Spacey, so I was always going to enjoy this.

The series just doesnt do it for me. I pretty much gave up after the 4th episode. Heres hoping that Netflix's Hemlock Grove series keeps my interest

I agree. Its too bad that Netflix doesn't have the contract anymore with Starz. It helped make Spartacus into a hit show when it was shown on Netflix too on the same day I think Netflix would shine more if they dive more into the horror/supernatural aspects of a tv series like with Hemlock Grove.

The unintentional funniest line of this show though:
"Is that a PS Vita?"

 Re: House of Cards
Got offered a 1-month free trial from Netflix a while back but just used it now as I waited until I could watch both this show and Hemlock Grove during the month. Hope at least one of the two end up being entertaining.

 Re: House of Cards
Hemlock Grove is getting some very bad reviews. I could see why since the werewolf form was that of the dreamy Lupus rather than Optime.

So...the season premiere features one of the most shocking deaths I've seen on a TV show in a while. Jesus.

While watching this show I noticed quite a similarity with Walker and Obama

Season was way better than Season 1, and I quite enjoyed Season 1.

 Re: House of Cards
Rachel and Jackie Sharp are the best characters this season. The rest of it hasn't been as good as season 1, IMO. I miss Corey Stoll and Kate Mara. I also wasn't satisfied with the way the storyline was seemingly wrapped up regarding Zoe's boyfriend trying to take Frank down. I kept expecting him to reappear.
On episode 12 now.
