That doesn't bode well, but it has nothing to do with how amazing the first was.
RANT ENDED
Still really dissapointing for The Ring Two. It made about half of what I predicted. Sure does look like sequels are not doing well this year. Elektra, Be Cool, and The Ring Two all falling short of expectations.

OR that the marketing sucked and people are fed up with bad horror movies and finally listened to the reviews

Yeah but with the exception of WHITE NOISE, the rest were watered down PG-13 Shit and it's really not that folks are tired of a good horror movie, they just haven't seen 1 yet based on the above movies you've mentioned.. The Amityville Horror and Michael Bay Producing this looks very well made compared to the shit we've had and this is incredibly well known, even if folks are too close minded to read beyond thinking it was automatically a hoax.. It's still one of the greatest haunted house accounts of our time.. I highly suggest picking up the novel if it's re-released and read it.. It'll take you 1 afternoon to accomplish and you won't put it down..

And I predicted 35-39 Million.. Who would've thought that??? \:D/ I'm 100% certain the Amityville Horror will stomp the fuck out of the RING II... Wouldn't it be cool if lightening struck twice and I was right about that???

BKB , it would be cool if lightning struck twice, but it's not going to. Amityville Horror isn't going to come anywhere near a 50 million dollar weekend, and if it gets within 10 million of it, I will create a signature of BKB worship that will have to be seen to be believed!

It's all assumption either way, but I think, in regards to The Ring Two, that it's the difference between people who will go see everything automatically and those who were relying on good word of mouth/reviews in order to go see it.
Maybe a $10 million dollar difference if it had been percieved as generally good.

It amazes me that no one realizes Ring 2 'flopped' because everyone is sick of horror movies, especially this type...Grudg, Forgotten, etc....
