Kind of surprised..went to Fandango and I haven't seen any sell-outs for the evening shows at any theatre yet. Maybe there are too many screenings/theatres and the business is more spread out?

Me, my girlfriend, and some friends *attempted* to go to the 7:00pm show of The Ring Two tonight, but it was sold out. It was already sold out for the 9:30 show too. The midnight show wasn't sold out at the time, but we can't get to the midnight show because there was no ride home.
*sigh* I guess I'm going tomorrow night.

Crowd Report
The Ring Two
35-40% full (~600 seat theater), showing on 3/4 screens total
Trailers: Kingdom of Heaven, The Lords of Dogtown, The Skeleton Key, The Amittyville Horror, Dark Water, Red Eye
Movie: Decent, actually quite good, but not anywhere near the level of the original. The scares are quite different and are actually quite few and far between. Overall a worthy sequel, as it would be nearly impossible to equal the sheer brilliance of the original.

Had a menage a trois cinema style.
The Ring II Noon
20 people or so in a 300 seater
Trailers:
War of the Worlds - Great reaction (even my wife who doesn't get excited thought it was a jam packed trailer)
The Island - Mixed reaction. Trailer doesn't really say anything and not enough trademark Bay action.
Red Eye - Great reaction. What a sneaky little trailer. Interesting.
The Movie:
It takes huge balls to gather up everything that was great about the original and toss it out the window for the sequel. The worst sequel ever? No. But terribly boring and silly and riddled with continuity errors.
D-
Robots 2:00
About 25 people in a 300 seater
Trailers:
Sith: YEAH BOY \:D/ \:D/ \:D/
Ice Age II: Not sure but Scrat looks a lot better.
The Movie:
Not as bad as Sharktale but still one of the worst CGI animated features. Most of the jokes fell flat but the visuals were interesting. I'm torn.
D+
Be Cool 4:00
About 8 people in the small theater
Trailers:
Batman Begins: YEAH BOY \:D/ \:D/ \:D/
A Lot Like Love: No reaction
Amityville Horror: Good reaction but let me just say, I'm tired of ghosts. Bring on monsters already.
Fever Bitch: The final shot of Drew brought down the house
Beautyshop: Some laughter.
The movie:
Not even close to the original but an interesting cast and the star power of Travolta carries the film.
C+

The Ring Two
7:30 show, 400-seat auditorium, sold out.
Trailers
The Amityville Horror
Dark Water
The Skeleton Key
Red Eye
The Devil's Rejects
War of the Worlds
Movie
I enjoyed The Ring Two. The quality is nowhere near the level of the original, though. The Ring Two employs the strange tactic of almost completely disregarding the "killer videotape" aspect in favor of a "possess the kid" plot. That's not to say that it doesn't provide a hefty number of shocks and "scares", despite not exactly being a flat-out horror film. The tension is high and every scene is well-paced by the director. Oh, and the creepy, distorted faces from the first movie are back, in case you need to shield your eyes. B
Crowd Reaction
The crowd, which leaned heavily on the teen side, screamed their living daylights out at *everything*. I almost started laughing at how easily these people would get scared. Of course, there were times when they giggled profusely (at moments intended to be serious, but they came off as cheesy), so...I heard mixed comments walking out, but they seemed to be more positive than negative.

Wow, if they showed the trailer for Devil's Rejects in front of yours I wish they'd show the trailer for another Lions Gate horror flick, HIGH TENSION, in front of mine. I saw it in front of SAW when I went to that movie opening weekend and then again recently on the TOOLBOX MURDERS DVD. I love the trailer! It kicks ass! I would love to see it on the big screen again. Sadly I'll probably get stuck with some trailers I don't care too much about. I'm hoping they don't show the Devil's Rejects trailer in front of mine though. I already saw it in front of SAW and don't care that much about it. I'll rent it on video but don't want to see the trailer again. I've heard the RED EYE trailer is good though so I'd like to see that one. I don't mind if I see the AMITYVILLE HORROR trailer again either since I've only seen it once and that was on Coming Attractions. I haven't seen the previews for SKELETON KEY, DARK WATER, or WAR OF THE WORLDS yet.

What theater chain are you going to? AMC showed the following: Kingdom of Heaven, The Lords of Dogtown, The Skeleton Key, The Amittyville Horror (the original teaser), Dark Water and Red Eye.

The Ring 2
3:50 Pm
2 people in 251 seater (normal for the time of day here)
Trailers:
War of the Worlds - Awesome
Fever Pitch
Amityville Horror
Movie:
I loved The Ring. I loved the freshness and the creepiness.
Ring 2 is a very poorly made sequel. There are several scary moments, but the movie is horrible. It is a rehash of the first. Probably will make huge amounts of money. Very disappointing.

I'm surprised about all of this very negative reviews. Sure it wasn't "great", but was anybody expecting it to be better then the orginal, one of the greatest horror movies ever?

Naomi Watts is good as always. The kid gets on your nerves after a while.
Hopefully, Sin City will be good. \:D/

Noami Watts is excellent, I agree. And yes, Aiden is somewhat disturbing/annoying after a while.

Yeah, I didn't think it was *that bad*. I mean, it wasn't great, but I thought it was somewhat effective. There were probably a tad too many sequences that were totally ridiculous, though. The scenes that actually do work work well, I thought.

The Ring 2 experience wasn't all bad.
At least the War of the Worlds trailer is awesome =D>
Impact: From what I have heard, Ring 2 is not a remake of Ringu2.

Yeah, I was actually thinking about how gifted Naomi Watts is. I think I might've given The Ring Two a full letter grade lower if the film did not have such a capable lead. I have faith that she's going to be fantastic in King Kong, despite the fact it's a big-budget spectacle.
