That twitter post is 200% bullshit. So many logic holes in that post. Rises' specific plot details and ending are locked up tighter than Fort Knox or a maximum security prison. No way does a random person in post know the full breakdown, and then tell this twitter dude about it. In Nolan we trust . Jack Sparrow wrote: Rewrite history books? Really is BKB writing this? Please, mentioning that name is an insult. A huge feeling that many of us have, combined with some factual information is what gives Rises a good chance to be a historic run. Facts about Rises: - the follow-up to one of the MOST beloved and celebrated films of the last decade, and of the modern era. Critically, commercially, you name it, it was loved all over the place big time - HUGE goodwill Nolan achieved with Inception, which some doubted, being an original, non-Batman film, not based on any books or franchise. It BLEW people's brains, and gained Nolan a legendary reputation, being a film that followed TDK, which had already given him a near-legendary reputation - unprecedented presales and hype so far with over 4 weeks to go, for a film without a rabid, specific fanbase based on specific books/franchises (ex. Twilight, Potter, Hunger Games) and with a huge casual audience So you don't think that Rises, a follow-up to the 533M domestic grossing TDK, and Inception, a 292M domestic grosser, coming from a director with a now-legendary status has a chance at a historic run?

But.... think about this. All of Nolan's big movies have ended with a wtf moment or rather in an abrupt way. TDKR being a trilogy he really shouldn't go for the same kinda ending. We need an end to the trilogy a la ROTK - long and thought out with closure.

JGL becoming Batman is something that could work, I suppose. But the potential for it to fall completely flat is so damn high; the character and his motivations have to be fucking perfectly realized. JGL becoming Robin is also possible.

Again there is a big difference is how you put things. I have always thought that Batman will break $200m OW but after that Avengers Saturday it was a given that Batman can easily reach that level. It is a follow-up and series ending for a huge franchise so yeah it is going to be big. NOBODY says it is not getting $450m+ from like forever (except maybe BKB) First of all Inception was the follow-up from Nolan after TDK it didn't decrease over the expectations by any means but TDKR is follow-up to Inception in terms of Nolan being the director. The TDK argument was used by Nolan fans for Inception in terms of the directors goodwill from $533m grosser so we shouldn't be using that argument now. Second how is TDK not midnight friendly movie? Of all the non-book franchises Batman movies have been having solid midnights. TDK did break the midnight opening record in 2008 so how is that TDKR's breaking midnights so HUGELY surprising or different? Again as I said it IS going to be huge just how huge is yet to be seen. Also please don't bring that TRUST NOLAN argument. I have faith in Nolan but not every (Nolan + Batman) FAN (and by that I do not mean casual movie goers that are propelled with WOM) will be satisfied. If Nolan brings more action some would have wanted it to be more darker, if he goes darker some would have wanted more action, if he keeps the balance then IMO it will become more like TDK with a different story. The dangers of being sequel to one of the most acclaimed movies of ALL TIME is that it is VERY difficult to maintain the same level. Plus I do give every credit to Nolan for TDK and trust me I really appreciate his movies but it does not mean he cannot have a bad movie ever, not saying this will happen but TDKR might not prove to be AS strong as TDK. Sorry for hacking this club for non OW discussion but over OW it is almost certain to win the crown but some of the predictions of $280m and did I hear $300m OW are just absurd. TDK did increase about $7m over Spidey's record and something similar for $215m OW is what I feel will be the case for TDKR.

I agree with almost everything you say Sparrow up until you came with your prediction. First off the +220m predictions are not even worth paying any attention to. They're just fanboy delusions. Personally I feel 200m is too high as well. I'm going with 187m and that's a number to be very happy about. I think many of those absurd +220m predictions stem from some silly DC over Marvel bullshit.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW Record Club of Tickets Now on S
What I believe for OW is that midnights will be huge and the normal walk-up business over Batman movies is anyways big. It will not have as big as Avengers Saturday but will be very close to it.
The midnights difference from Avengers will be almost or a little more than $18m I believe for $36m but this is really a big variable so this could go as high as $44m. Friday day-business will be somewhere around $60m ($2m less than Avengers but I think this could go lesser since the demand will be that much satisfied with bigger midnights), Avengers Saturday will gain on by around $8m TDKR will gain around $2m on Sunday.
Total of about $216m with $36m midnights and $220m with $40m midnights. While I still feel these numbers are slightly better over TDK, this movie can definitely make it.

I'm a Batman fan but not a DC fan. I actually prefer Marvel overall, it's just that Batman is the best superhero ever created IMHO. I think a lot of the predictions are driven by this silly notion that Batman has broken the record 4 times in the past, so it should break the record again coming off TDK's success. The problem with this logic is that none of the previous Batman films were going against movies with a 10-15% advantage due to 3D price premiums. And it's not like Avengers came out a few years ago either, so inflation isn't even on TDKR's side compared to the current record.

What I do know is that the tracking for the film already matches your prediction a month out, your entire prediction is based on the assumption that we have reached market capacity, and I also know your 100% wrong.

TDKR doesn't need inflation to whip TA, not when its a bout to increase 15%+ in tickets sold opening wknd from TDK

Looks like the same shitty fight choreography we've seen in all of Nolan's action films.

Looks pretty epic considering there missing by about 6 inches with each blow And I think Nolan has directed more than satisfactory action in each bat film so far, not the best, but it is indeed very intense and very good action.
