 Re: Community - Season 3
Well Chevy is notoriously difficult. And Harmon is notoriously outspoken. Two combustible elements.
Too bad, because he is a tremendously gifted comedic actor. Or was in the 70s and 80s.

Pierce was always a dead weight of a character IMHO.

 Re: Community - Season 3
I'm sure it was always more about "Hey, it's Chevy Chase!" than anything else. But it doesn't sound like he's changed since 1975.

 Re: Community - Season 3
Dan Harmon issued a statement on it. Didn't quite address it directly, but pretty much took all the blame. So...
Also, I'm hearing tomorrows episode is gonna be one of the best.

 Re: Community - Season 3
I thought this episode was well made but I didn't find it all that funny. I did like that Leonard was given more to do and say and Fat Neil came back but I couldn't get into the whole documentary style feel of the whole episode.

 Re: Community - Season 3
It didn't quite reach the heights of "Documentary Filmmaking Redux" (but what can, really?), but it was still an especially brilliant episode. Getting Keith David to narrate it was really the cherry on top.

Yeah I think that was actually one of the least funny Community episodes despite what one would expect with the set-up, but it was still really really good for other reasons

 Re: Community - Season 3
I thought Pillows and Blankets was absolutely brilliant. Maybe not the funniest episode of the season, but so on point in pretty much every regard. They committed so fully to the PBS documentary mode.
This show is such a treasure. And it's definitely the weirdest show I've ever loved.

I say we petition to bring back Annie's Boobs over those two.

 Re: Community - Season 3
I think this might be one of my favorite episodes of the show ever. A total 180 from last week's fanciful silliness, this was actually grounded, non-crazy, emotional realness.
Loved it.

 Re: Community - Season 3
I thought the Jeff/Blade mirror was brilliant, the texting business a bit network sitcom-y, and the Pierce/Chang subplot awful.
Pierce is like the wrestler who is only good as a heel, I think after S2 where he was a douche all year they wanted to make him well liked in the group, but it doesn't give him much of a role to fill. Chang has been nothing without the outlandish Spanish Teacher identity

 Re: Community - Season 3
Few milestones in this episode
Annie answering the phone as Blade may have been the funniest thing ever, I rewatched that at least a dozen times Abed finally said something funny this season
All around great episode

In the middle of the episode, pretty great so far.
Edit: I thought that was one of the best episodes of the series.

 Re: Community - Season 3
Liked the Dreamatorim one a lot. Not quite another Critical Film Studies (no Cougar Town monologue) but weird enough and with good enough character moments to enjoy.
I wonder if this was the episode that broke Chevy.

No comments on last night? This was probably my favorite of the season so far and their best parody to date. Also:
