As I've said, I don't know how to contact him. Some of the old BOM guys might, but I'm not going to ask around. I'm sure the KJ members that know Kal would disapprove. He got half of BOM banned back in 06

Haha, I joined BOM right in the middle of his Superman Returns > Pirates 2 chaos.

If I recall correctly, Kal's "predictions" involved saying Superman would do 400-700m and that we'd "believe a man can fly." I can only assume he did the same thing with Avatar.

Yeah something like that. Avatar would "sink the titan with 400-850m and 600-1500m overseas." Pretty sure he also thought Dragon Ball would hit 300 million ("100-300m buds!")

http://www.worldofkj.com/forum/viewtopi ... &p=1525191I remember that. He'd quote google search results Also Webslinger wrote: I was really active at BOM the first few months I was there. Then, in January 2006, I started arguing with superman128/Kal-El 2006/whatever the hell he's calling himself now. The topic was the Superman Returns/Dead Man's Chest match-up that summer, and even in spite of all the facts and logic tossed his way, he persisted in acting like a total dick because in spite of his (allegedly) being forty years of age, he somehow couldn't comprehend how anyone could disagree on the fact that Superman wasn't the greatest thing to ever exist on earth. (For those of you who don't know this guy, he makes BKB's fanboyism at its worst seem like a box of cute little kittens. He once accused me of being a satanist when I said that Superman Returns wouldn't bring out the churchgoing crowds a la Passion of the Christ.)

Kal-el wasnt that far off for Transformers though. The first did make $300m and the 2nd did make $400m so his Transformers predictions that far out were actually reasonable. Everything else probably not, but for that he was ok.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises $200+ million OW Club
Jon wrote: Pirates 2's adjusted, midnightless Friday ($56 million) + Spider-Man's adjusted Saturday ($58.7 million) + TDK's adjusted Sunday ($47.5 million) would be $162.2 million, WITHOUT midnights. Now, this obviously requires breaking three different ticket sales records, which really requires a super-duper perfect storm of perfection, but...it's possible.
I think I'm in the $185-195 million range, so for now I'm out. For now. I'm in because of this. TDK's was coming off Batman Begins' general word of mouth, in that it was very well liked. But I think if you asked most people, who saw both films, to pick which one they'd prefer, I'd guess most would pick TDK and that's the love this movie has going for it. Now, I'm sure the curiosity around Heath Ledger inflated the opening weekend by a margin, but take away that as a factor this film doesn't have (which I don't think was quite a big factor to begin with, but still), and I still think this crosses $200 million by a couple of million. So as much as I love Superman Returns, I have to say I'm in.

This time we've got nothing to grab onto.

The plot thickensQuote: CBM's own CPBuff22 came across an interesting find and did some digging as well. On the Celebration Cinema's The Dark Knight Rises page, and they list the movie as having a run time of 130 Minutes. Ah, but there is more: "Well I called the Celebration! Cinema offices and they say that they have been informed of the 2:16 time(includes credits). Its fairly crucial info for them as they try to plan out an IMAX schedule being that there will be a couple movies playing in IMAX at the time and the need to optimize the use of the one screen." - CPBuff22

It's got to be as long as Batman Begins, Magnus! Or else it won't be as good, this is how things work!

Re: The Dark Knight Rises OW > Superman Returns total Club
I would be surprised at a smaller running time. There is still a lot going on. Catwoman, Miranda Tate, Bane, and John Blake are all new characters in need of development. And then of course, there is Bruce and his relationships (Alfred, Gordon, Fox). Im expecting another ~150 minutes. And yes the hype will be bonkers, it has been for months. I dig it
