 Re: March Madness
Iowa State is capable of beating top teams in the nation. They have beaten Kansas.

 Re: March Madness
I predicted 2 No. 1 to fall before the Sweet 16 (Syracuse and Michigan State), so hoping for a wild weekend. Baylor won't play a single-digit seed until at least Elite 8; better take advantage.

Well Syracuse won't be one of them. They are dominating Kansas St. right now. UNC Ashville gave them more trouble.

 Re: March Madness
Kansas St. missed Jamar Samuels; would have given Syracuse a much better game with him. Their efficiency ranking over the season is pretty high comparing to their seed ( http://kenpom.com/).

In the first half it looked like K-State was going to win, but their piss poor shooting only helped Syracuse. But they are hardly dominating them. Dominating implies winning by more than ten for a majority of the game. Until these last ten minutes, K-State was only down by two possessions or so.

They were up by 10 points for the last ten minutes of the game. As I said at that moment in the game, sure it was close for a half but Syracuse took it to another level and looked much better than they did on Thursday. Not sure how far they can go. I can see them beating Vandy or Wisconsin without Melo, but Ohio State or Florida State would be a tougher challenge.

 Re: March Madness
I still maintain that outside of those last ten minutes, Syracuse looks like the weakest one-seed

Things aren't starting well for the Ohio State

Ohio State finished well. Deshaun Thomas gave them a huge lift off the bench.

 Re: March Madness
Great defense by Murray State in the first half against Marquette. Holding Marquette to under 30 in a half is pretty impressive. Murray has a great team. They could be a sleeper final four team.
Edit Wild game between the Golden Eagles and Racers. For about 2 minutes the game was a track meet although very little scoring there. Both teams are playing great defense.

 Re: March Madness
Marquette played a great second half. They have a very good team, especially Crowder. I was pulling for Murray, they play great defense but it wasn't meant to be.

 Re: March Madness
Very entertaining game betwen VCU and Indiana. Both teams could really shoot.

 Re: March Madness
Yeah although Indiana is turning the ball over too much. If they keep this up, VCU will blow them out. The Vandy-Wisconsin game was one of the best, although the Marquette-Murray state game was great as well.

 Re: March Madness
Oh well, was pulling for VCU even though I had Indiana advancing in the bracket. They're a young team, so should be back again the next couple of years.
So far Thursday/Saturday matchups have produced far fewer upsets.

 Re: March Madness
Probably means we will have upsets on Sunday. Colorado could pull an upset on Baylor, but that would probably be it.

 Re: March Madness
I'm hoping for at least one 15-seed to advance to the Sweet 16.

 Re: March Madness
Yeah, a rather boring day. K-State started off well....and then sucked. Gonzaga looked really good, but couldn't hold it down the stretch. Murray State just couldn't get it done, and VCU lost it at the end. Now it seems like Baylor is blowing away Colorado.
Baylor might overthrow Kentucky if things go well, but Kentucky still looks like a team that won't be fully challenged until the final game outside of Baylor.

 Re: March Madness
We did have 3 very good games. Actually, Indiana will have to play Kentucky and they have already beaten them once.

 Re: March Madness
That's true, I hope Indiana wins, but keep in mind, they do not have one of their key players.

 Re: March Madness
Very good final 5 minutes, New Mexico almost came back. Big East has had a pretty good tourney so far now with 3 teams in the sweet 16. I think they will get at least one more.

 Re: March Madness
All higher seeds and no seed under 4 advanced in one day in the round of 32; I assume that hadn't happened in quite a while?

My bracket survives... but I was really hoping for Purdue to win.
