It will do close to $80m or maybe even $75m on OD....the midnights will surely reduce its Friday or Saturday will see a much bigger drop. Remember even with inflation such big increase on OD will mean much more admissions.

The combination of Joker and Heath ledger surely helped last one, I don't think that will hamper this one getting a bigger number but it will not allow to have more tickets sold.....and please stop with those ridiculous $100m OD for this one....whatever be the case Twilight fanbase is much more rapid fanbase than Batman and I don't see BD2 coming close to $43m midnight record set by HP, this one without 3D would have to settle for $35m but will then decrease the Friday (only day) number as well, if not it will see a bigger Saturday drop.

I cannot see TDK2 selling more tickets then TDK overall, perhaps opening weekend...

I think 170-180 million is a good bet.

If it gets such a large opening it will likley end up near 500 million rather then 400 million.

Yeah regardless of the opening I see this coming close to $500m rather than $400m.

I think with inflation and bigger IMAX boost, similar admissions would make the OW close to $185m, if there is an increase of admissions over OW then I think $200m+ OW will be a better bet.

BOM's adjusted figure for TDK's opening weekend factors in the 3D prices to get their 2011 average ticket price. The average 2D ticket price is currently $7.60. Assuming a 3% rise by next year would put this at $7.83. Now, for IMAX. I've estimated that by the time TDKR releases, the average IMAX ticket price will be $16.04.

Next, BOM estimates that TDK sold 22,062,900 tickets on its opening weekend. TDK made $6.2 million from 94 IMAX screens in 2008, which is, going by 2008 prices, roughly 413,000 tickets sold in IMAX. DH2 was somewhere just under 1 million tickets sold, so I'm going to guess that at the least TDKR sells about 1 million IMAX tickets. Good for $16.0 million. This leaves 21,062,900 tickets leftover, at 2D prices, this would equate to $164,922,507.

Put the two together, and TDKR should match TDK's OW attendance record at $181 million. Anything above that and we have a new record. Unless the IMAX share is huge, anything in the mid to high 180s is a new record

Yes I am thinking IMAX boost will be huge because the movie being shot in that format, plus Nolan backing it as well. I can see a very similar boost for MI4 as well, plus ofcourse TDKR's trailer before it will add to nostalgia ;)

Yes, but within a weekend it is much easier to reach the absolute capacity for IMAX gross than regular gross, due to the limited number of screens. The IMAX share I'm anticipating is 240% of TDK's IMAX OW, so right now I'm not sure it could go much higher.

On the other hand, MI4 is currently tracking for $16 million over the weekend, which would be the record. If that is the case, then TDKR's IMAX share could be gigantic, possibly over 15% of its weekend ticket sales.

In that case, it could go as high as $200 million with TDK's 22 million tickets. Throw in a 10% bump and this is at 24.2 million tickets, and $220 million for the weekend.

Exactly my point...thank you

But hey this does not mean I am supporting that figure, I see a decline in admissions overall :P

I'm not advocating the figure either, I see this hitting $184 million

^Agreed. Eventhough we can't really judge Hardy's perfomance based off of 6 minutes of footage. He looks badass though and barely recognizable. Also, I think the IMAX experiance is going to make this movie HUGE. With so many people getting sick of fucking 3D it's about time we got a movie that could possibly be a game changer for the IMAX format.

Nothing gamechanging about IMAX, it's basically a bigger picture, with a different aspect ratio. Wow!

That doesn't give you IMAX's ultra-increased resolution. :)

Oh, i'd love to have an IMAX near me, i'd watch everything there... in 3D!!! Oh and it should have a nice new 4K (or even higher if one's available) digital projector coz i dunno if the old 70mm analog ones can handle higher framerates.

Not by a long shot for the simple fact BANE sucks and you can't understand a word he says and don't say you can Nolan fans cause you know damn well it's inaudible when he speaks.. Nolan should've used subtitles for BANE when he has dialogue.. In the end, this could be a problem for the general moviegoer that can't understand what's being said, so don't underestimate this...

350-380 Million domestic for this is the ceiling and only because batfans and the WB are going to blow their load wayyy too quickly before July even hits.. Too much overconfidence could result in a huge disappointment..
