Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Wow, Tony Plush walks off for the Brew Crew, and the Phillies get stymied today. It's funny how there were predictions at the beginning of the Season of the Phillies and Red Sox getting in the World Series, but the former gets eliminated in the first round, and the latter did not even make it to October. This NLCS is going to be fierce, with two teams who hate each other.
As for AL, I agree that the Tigers have a shot if their offense can step it up a notch. I agree with Magnus that the Rangers have better offense and overall pitching, but Verlander tilts in the Tigers favor. I see this going to a game 7.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
As much as the Tigers having a chance, I think Texas will pull this off. There is one thing Texas has that Detroit does not have...Speed. Texas will take full advantage of this, as they have all year. Detroit does not run alot, which is why they hit into too many double plays.
Also @ Magnus, did you know that Mike Napoli hit his first Major League homerun in his first at bat? Not only that, he hit is first HR against Justin Verlander. I bet Verlander will have nightmares about this.

I believe Game 7 would be Carpenter vs Marcum. Big time ouch for the Brew considering how those two have looked this PS.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Actually, the next two are must wins for Detroit. They need to win all their home games if they want a shot at winning the last game on the road.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Agree with Magnus here. Feel the next game is just as important for the Rangers as for the Tigers, if not more so; I don't see Verlander losing Game 5. With all the rain delays, he barely has pitched at all in the post season. And considering Colby Lewis' ERA was 2 points higher at home than on the road during the regular season, Tigers should feel confident if there is a Game 7 with Fister pitching.

Cruz again, this time saving a game with his arm. The strategy of internationally walking the winning run almost backfired.
