5 runs in 6 innings. And he left the game with a 10-5 lead. That is well enough to win.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Prince Fielder says he is leaving the Brewers at the end of the season. Right before they go into the playoffs. What a nice guy.
He'll definitely go the American League. The Toronto Blue Jays seem the most likely contender to overpay him. Can't imagine the Yanks or Sox committing that much to a DH when their offenses are fine as is.

The first part of the month has been tough for the Sox, but hopefully they can build back some momentum as they head into the post season. This game was a great start. It's about time too, after like what...8 tries. Even with the win, it wasn't exactly a quality start either, since he won with all the run support he could get. He doesn't seem to be fooling anyone these days. Yeah, but only 2 of the 8 were losses, the rest were no decisions and 3 ended up wins.

Yeah, it's not like he's pitched bad trying to get to 200. He's pitched well enough most games.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Well, the Tigers did it, the first to clinch their divisional. With Verlander and Fister as the one two punch, they have a legitimate shot to go deep.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Fister has been IMPRESSIVE since joining the Tigers. What a pickup!
Dbacks need to win their next five games, going into the SF series with SF in striking distance is NOT something they want. And blowing a 6 game lead with 11 to play would not be good.

Also joining the offense is Xavier Nady, Henry Blanco, Willie Bloomquist, and Geoff Blumm. Not exactly impressive, but they will do. Okay, the offense looks okay, but the pitching is crap. Joe Saunders is getting worse after the Halos traded him for Dan Haren. New starter Armando Galarraga hasn't done anything since his should've been perfect game. And Zach Duke. Seriously Zach Duke. Out of all the pitchers they could have gotten, they get one of the worse ERA's for a starter who pitched over 150 innings. Not even the Pirates were dumb enough to sign him again. Their bullpen is just as bad. Kirk Gibson so far is not any better than A.J. Hinch. So, another losing season awaits. The Scottie wrote: Chippy wrote: Tigers/Red Sox/DBacks will all win their divisions. Tigers and Red Sox will, but the DBacks, well, not with the lousy pitching and managing staff they have. Fucking Red Sox!!!

Matt Kemp is having as quiet a pursuit of the Triple Crown as one could imagine, this late of the season too.

Yeah, at this point they don't deserve to get in and even if they did they'd probably get swept out of the first round. I almost hope they don't get in.

A tie in the Wildcard in both leagues. This will be like a preview of 2013 (when the Wildcard expands).

Wow, Rays down to the last strike to lose: homerun to tie. Red Sox down to the last strike to win: blew it. Wow, just Wow.

Yep, that's about right. They didn't deserve to make it anyways.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
The most epic baseball regular season night ever. I'm not associated with either team, although pulling for Rays simply because what they have done to come back and their underdog status. Either way, as a fan, this is the most crazy night ever.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
I think tonight will make up for a pretty lackluster postseason.
Rangers in 4 Tigers in 5
Phillies in 3 Brewers in 4
Tigers in 7 Phillies in 6
Phillies in 5

I love the touch of the Orioles losing their shit as much as the Rays HR when they got that hit
Non Red Sox and Yankees teams need to stick together
