The AL East.

Yankees - In the past couple of years, they take pride of being the best, but this year, it's looks more questionable than in year's past. The veteren superstars are beginning to show their age (especially Jeter late in the season). CC is still the Ace, and Hughes had a solid year, but Burnett needs to step it up, and with Vazquez gone and Pettite retired, who's going to fill the 4th and 5th spots. Nova and Mitre look to be candidates, but they will hardly be inning eaters. With the offense of the other East teams (Sox and O's in particular), their starters could get killed. The bullpen however, looks a lot strongers. With Soriano and Rivera pitching the 8th and 9th innings if they have leads, the game is over. The offensive is not a problem, with the biggest question mark being Russell Martin. With two down years with the Dodgers, can he regain his form. Other than that, the only other question mark is their age. If they can keep up with the numbers posted the last two years, they have some hope. But all in all, they will get their butts kicked by the Sox with the rotation they have.
Prediction - There is no denying that the Red Sox will take the crown, that is, as long as a freak accident does not happen. I am going to be very Gutsy and saying that Baltimore will take 2nd place. That offense is too strong. The Yankees will settle for third. The Rays and Jays will be alot weaker than last year, but based on the coaching staff, the Rays should avoid last place, with the Jays sitting on the bottom, both with about 70 wins. NL coming soon, if not today.

Reviewing the early comments, pretty good except you didn't take into account the possible great years of Colon and Garcia.

another Red Sox fan who can't stand to face the truth....so maybe after another 500 innings you will admit the Red Sox pitching sucks... and I think Beckett goes together, as I remember hearing he is the #3 pitcher, LOL!

PS. Also Wonder how Crawford will do off the turf and at Fenway. I said AG would be a great pickup but Crawford needs to hit, LOL! For like the next decade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

reviewing the early comments, that guy made a great call. Questioning whether the Red Sox pitching will hold up, just like years past, and whether Crawford would play well in Boston,as he is still hitting under 250.

And also calling out Gonzalez would be great in Fenway Park/Boston....

Anyway, to baseball fans or Scottie as RSN fans only like to discuss positives....

I hear that Clay Buck, see below, is still hurt and the Red Sox are looking for pitching at the trade deadline. So what is your new analysis on the Red Sox pitching....

Clay Buchholz to see doc as precaution
BOSTON -- Boston Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz will not throw his scheduled bullpen session Wednesday afternoon and will visit with another back specialist in the coming days.

well Angels getting smacked tonight...and Boston is barely beating Chicago...and the Yankees are delayed, with a DH already scheduled for tomorrow! Not too good for anyone yet!

Mark Reynolds hits a 2 Run Homer. Guess Boston was smart as they threw at him a couple of times, and he left their game hurt. Wish the Yankees would play like that, as Boston pitchers are leading the league in hitting batters.

Well Angels and Boston Lose so Yankees....better come back, but at least they can't lose ground.

And, Major Stinkeroo by the Red Sox as the Top 6 Red Sox Regular Starters, all went hitless....seems like the Crawford stink is contagious. Yup Crawford, 0 for 3...and 1 for his last 15! O MY!

Ya, my team got knocked around today. Might as well get it out of the way, considering that Haren and Weaver are scheduled up next (For the record, Sunday is Weaver and Verlander, the battle of the Cy Young, and according to sources, that game is already sold out, no surprize there). At least Texas lost their game, putting us at only 2 behind. Thank goodness the Halos are in a winable division.

Not so fast, CC has knocked his ERA down to 2.5 level and he is leading the Majors with 15 wins...

Looking at the stats, CC is...

#1 in Games Started
#1 in Wins
#2 in Innings Pitched
#2 in Strike-Outs

...for Starters

Big Day for the Yankees - Double Header with Colon and Nova Pitching!

Really Hoping for a Big Day from Them, as I don't want a Yankee Trade for Pitching!

Unlike the Experts, I have been behind this Pitching Staff All Year! Which is a Big Reason they have been in the Top 3 All Year!

and on the Red Sox and Angels, there big pitchers are going today....

Can Lester stop the RS Losing Streak, after the Beckett and Wakefield losses? Try to man up Lester!

BOS: J. Lester (10-4, 3.23)
CWS: P. Humber (8-6, 3.27)

and the Angels, another good one going! Haren, Haren, Haren!

LAA: D. Haren (10-6, 3.01)
DET: D. Below (0-1, 4.66)

Not if they have Granderson hitting seventh. They could really use another vet bat in that lineup. It's weird that they've gone so long without a traditional DH. I guess Posada fills that role?

I meant pitching lineup. Sorry for the confusion.

Since Gun stopped talking, with the Yankee success this season, I had to check out what people were saying.

And even besides RSN, others were bashing the Yankee pitching! Except for oner smart unnamed expert!

CC 15 WINS
Garcia 9
Colon 8
Burnett 8
Nova 8

Can you say the best 5 man rotation in baseball? If not, name the current team with their wins.

PS. Who do you think is the RSN fan who blasted the Yankee starting pitching and the Yankee relievers, after Joba went down? (Yup, I knew that was crazy talk, so I called him on it right away!)

PS 2 Yankees won the 1st game on DH, 8-3!

well angels won but Tampa lost...in the ALWC race!

and at least I don't have to follow the Yankees, going for the DH sweep, as they are up 12-0 in the 1st!

and as Gun likes positives, after the top 6 Red Sox batters went 0 for the night, last night...in the 4th inning, Gonzalez finally broke the streak, and got a hit.

Congrats!

Wow, Red Sox Break out tonight!

4 Runs in 1 inning! and now 8 runs in the game!

Lucky Lester is Pitching tonight!

and tomorrows starter is pissed, saying save some runs for me.

BOS: A. Miller (4-1, 5.45)
CWS: M. Buehrle (8-5, 3.22)

Yup, that is a good matchup tomorrow for the rubber match!

If we're just talking 5 man rotations, than Texas has it in the bag. They don't have an ace, but they have all reliable pitchers.

Holland 10
Lewis 10
Ogando 10
Wilson 10
Harris 9

3 Man rotations I would put Phillies, tigers, Red Sox, Texans, Angels, Brewers, and Braves above the Yankees.

so Gun, for starters who on the Yankees isn't reliable, as those Yankee pitchers have been doing great, with ERA in the 3s and been going late into games....especially CC, Garcia and Colon, and Nova has been a great surprise.

and not giving extra CC credit, as having a bulldog like him, is very important in the playoffs.

as also, you have to include the relievers, for playoff talk, as most Yankee relievers are in the 3s or lower, especially after getting rid of Joba. Funny, that a RSN LOL at Joba getting hurt, and I said big deal, Yankees have others that are better.

and I will only ask you to do this for the Red Sox, but can you name what there 5 man rotation is in order...also, in the playoffs, you need a 4 man rotation, not a 3 man one.

CC is detrimentally important to the Yankees, no one was arguing, He gets nothing but credit. Without him, the Yanks are most likely 4th in the division. Colon, Nova, Garcia, Hughes, and Burnett have all been unreliable this year. They've won a lot of games because of the Yanks great leads. Same can be said for the sox, but their ERA's and pitching have been very consistent this year and overall better than a lot of teams.

And for the playoffs we're looking very strong. Lester, Beckett and Bucholtz when he's back. Lester is doing his norm, Beckett. Lackey of all people has won 4 in a row and a 2 ERA during that time. If he keeps that up he'll have had a quite the comeback after that disastrous start. Bucholtz will be number 3 though. He hasn't lost a game since April and was on fire before his injury. Supposedly he's back in a week though. And wakefield will be #5, and while he's still a wild card, its probably his most dependable season in years.

As for relievers, we have some of the best, Aceves especially has been pretty great. And we have Bard, who has the longest streak in the majors this year. He hasn't allowed a single run since May. And Paplebon is doing good.

I am not worried about our pitching at all. And we still might get another possible starter by the end of the day. And when you add it to our hitting, I don't think I'm worried at all.

I have a question, The phillies and Sox both have chances to hit 100 games in just the regular season, has that ever happened?

For such a marquee matchup, this was one strange game to say the least. Not happy with the results, but was interesting to watch.

The Red Sox got Behard who is good picture when healthy. The Yankees got nothing. They tried to get the picture from the Dodgers but he refused to leave LA.

They tried to get a picture from the Dodgers? I didn't know pictures can talk. Just kidding, if you meant pitcher, you're probably talking about Kuroda.

I agree it was uncalled for., but remember what Verlander did at the Big A earlier this year, ejected for arguing with the umpire who kept reminding him not to spit on the ball. Talk about being a punk.

Most of the time. In fact, the one team that gives him trouble is, believe or not, the White Sox. And playing them in 8 series can hurt his stats, which is were most of his losses came from.

lol yeah I meant him. The pitching options was very thin. Bedard was probably the best option out there for starters.

One start shouldn't matter, and it may refresh Weaver over the last 7 weeks of the season.

And as I expected Clay Buck is out longer than expected.

And today, can the Yankees tie the Red Sox for the AL lead? (Yup, nothing wrong with the Yankees, as even Arod is still out.)

Weaver hit with a 6-game ban. In what is an extremely tight race for the Cy Young, that missed start will hurt.

Actually, according to the rules, he has to missed his scheduled start on Saturday, but because of the day off, he can start on Friday due to the fact that he can appeal and then finish the rest of his punishment afterwards. Suspension seems fine, but I thought Guillen should have gotten some punishment for setting him off.

In other news, another gem by Santana. Looks like we may have 3 aces down the stretch.
