I don't care about Baltimore Grill, never did, and I always considered the Yankees the forerunner for the WC, I just always hope differently. TB and the Angels do look like they can and will give them a run for their money though.
My major question is why are you so proud of them leading the WC, have you given up on a division win already?
Anyway another good win for the Sox, 15-3 (.833) this month. Excited for Lester to return on Monday.

As here is just the 1st of many examples... Thegun wrote: And meanwhile, they've won there last 6 games, that'll go up quickly. The problem with Grill is he only sees half the story to benefit his ridiculous opinion. They are #1 in AL and #2 overall in the majors a game behind Philly.
And yes I said the orioles, and there still not in the worst of posititions, there hanging in and can still move up. Most experts picked the orioles over the Yankees too, as they looked to have one of their best years, while the Yankees are rebuilding. I think most expect the Yankees to do well in the beginning of the year, its the later months where most still think they will struggle. They desperately need Hughes back, otherwise CC will be overworked as well. And no, I haven't given up on the playoffs, I just want them for starters to get into the playoffs...especially when being one of the top 3 teams in baseball for the whole year... Let me ask you a question...Is the Red Sox 2004 WS win, lessen at all to you, since they got in as a Wild Card?

Say what you want the Yankees have started to struggle, and we're not in the later months yet, and no the Best World Series of all time is not diminished. I wasn't bashing the WC, I love it, and will be excited when they add another to each Division. I've just never seen anyone that excited for 3rd place.

Try 3rd Best Team/Record in Baseball > Which is much different than 3rd Place. And yes, the Yankees are hurting alittle...but it isn't the starting/relief pitching, as you and other RSN Fans have claimed...the bats are hurting.... But Arod is out for the month....and the Yankees played a tougher schedule in July than the Red Sox > Another Big Difference! And the Red Sox have built a 3 game lead based on an easy schedule, so whatever. And until another team gets closer to the Yankees, I am not worried. New York Yankees 58 40 -- 64 Los Angeles Angels 54 47 5.5 61 Tampa Bay Rays 52 47 6.5 63 Cleveland Indians 51 47 7.0 PS. How bad are the Yankees playing as they are hurting alittle and Arod is out...BUT THEY STILL PLAYED TAMPA TO EVER! LOL!

WOW...Just saw a clip from the Boston Game, as the Seattle SS threw out Pedroia on a bare hand pick-up...
Don't remember SS doing that often, as that is a 3B play on a slow hit ball down the line.
PS. Youk has been saving Boston with some great plays the last 2 games....
and everytime I see Boston, I still wonder as who is better Ells or Ped...I just like the sparkplug in Ells?

Colon gets through 6 innings in 9 out of his last 10 starts...except for the 1 Game Gun made a BIG DEAL about, where Yankee errors F him in 1 inning!

If not, the Yankees could very well once again slip in there, though they need to find a way to replace Pettite's 11 wins. Sabathia, A.J. Burnett and Phil Hughes are a solid 1-2-3, but who brings up the rear? Freddy Garcia and Bartolo Colon? At the best you might get a combined total of 11 wins between them. The Sox have the edge in starting rotation. And if Beckett can do anything better than 6-6 this year, they'll be in even better shape. Burnett is not solid at all, he's going to probably be even worst this year, he can only beat non divisional teams it seems. I'd be worried about Hughes and Sabathia getting overworked this year. If DiceK and Beckett are back, they'll do much better than a combined 15-12. And Lackey did all right too. With the offense and defense back, the pitchers could have the detrimental year they should have had last year. So on Garcia & Colon, At Best What? PS. With Garcia at 8 and Colon at 7, Wonder if they both could win 11? LOL, That would be nice!

Thegun wrote: The only thing today did was lessen the Yankee's Wild Card lead to 3 teams. Ortiz returns in 1 game, Lester in 6 days, and Bucholtz in about 2 weeks. Considering all that we're still 12-3 this month.
Philly is the first team to 60 wins. And haha Grill how is a loss a bounce back for Colon? That's 3 straight losses. Sure it's better than .2 innings last week, but hardly a bounce back. It sounds like the early predictions of Colon and Garcia not being able to last pass June are starting to come true. They are 1-5 this month (And that one win is a squeak by against the Mets) and Gun, you were ripping the Yankees 2 weeks ago....so not sure how you said yesterday, you expected the Yankees to get the W/C?

I feel bad for Seattle 15 straight is a long streak. The Red Sox are looking great and now Lester comes back. They have been 16-3 in July best record in baseball for the month. During that stretch, they were missing Lester and Bucholtz and still played great.

July was.... Houston - 3 games. Toronto - 3 games. Baltimore- 7 games. Tampa - 3 games. Seattle - 3 games. KC -4 games. Chi.W.Sox-3 games

So what? You can't control the schedule. Also, the Yankees have pretty much played those same teams minus Houston.

Indians are starting to suck again. Good thing the Tigers aren't good enough to take full advantage. I don't see anyone in the division winning more than 87 games.

The central is so weak right now, actually both central divisions are. At least, they will be close races down the stretch.

Well they have had like 7 against Tampa, 3 against the Indians when they were hot and 4 against Toronto which was close to 500... but the Yankees next 10 games are against....Seattle, Chicago and Baltimore. So lets see how the standings are in 10 games!

Mike Trout hits his first Homerun in front of his family. Great that he becomes the first Angel to hit a homerun in his teens. Important series coming up (especially for the Central).

Please don't
one more win for wakefield til he reaches 200. And Crawford is 9/24 (.375) since returning. With JD Drew replaced by Reddick and Lester and Bucholtz returning, theres not much to complain about right now. Seattle can't catch a break though.

The sad part is that they have a payroll to get good players, and this is all they get. At the beginning, they have great pitching, but no hitting, and now they are hitting a little better, but now their pitching is collapsing. They are simply the unluckiest team in the majors right now.

Re: 2011 Major League Baseball Discussion
Looks like the NL Central will be the best race with four teams within 3 games and 3 of those teams tied. I would take any of the teams over the Cardinals. Would rather see one of the lower payroll teams get into the playoffs.

Also, what Big Market Teams are in either Central????? St Louis Chicago Cleveland

They have the payroll at least. Cleveland is a medium market. The NL Central has the small market teams in Pittsburgh and Milwaukee. I guess it helps those teams when everybody is around .500.
