Post RIP Peter Falk
http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/Entertainment ... eter-falk/

Quote:
LOS ANGELES — Peter Falk, the stage and movie actor who became identified as the squinty, rumpled detective in "Columbo," which spanned 30 years in prime-time television, has died. He was 83.

Falk died Thursday night at his Beverly Hills home, according to a statement released by family friend Larry Larson.

In a court document filed in December 2008, Falk's daughter Catherine Falk said her father was suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

"Columbo" began its history in 1971 as part of the NBC Sunday Mystery Movie series, appearing every third week. "Columbo" became by far the most popular of the three mysteries, the others being "McCloud" and "McMillan and Wife."

Columbo -- he never had a first name -- presented a contrast to other TV detectives. "He looks like a flood victim," Falk once said. "You feel sorry for him. He appears to be seeing nothing, but he's seeing everything."

That's actually wrong. In one episode you could see in an ID in his wallet that his name was Frank.

He was a very funny actor and was amazing as Columbo. I know he has been sick for several years. He will be missed.

We're not all diehard Colombo fanatics, though.

I'm a big Colombo fan - - sorry to hear he's gone.

(BTW, he had two Academy Award nominations too.)

He was also great in the Princess Bride and several other movies. There is more to his career than just Columbo, although he will always be remembered as him.

If someone told me last week that the "celebs die in threes" thing would not only be true this week but would include Clarence Clemons, Peter Falk and Ryan Dunn... I would probably have believed you. Right before I asked "Didn't Peter Falk die already?"

No offense to Ryan Dunn...but he doesn't belong in the class of Clarence Clemons or Peter Falk, IMO.

Wings of Desire, man.

Can't argue with that.

Not at all.

I was going to joke about that too: Peter Falk arrives at the pearly gates with Clarence Clemons. Then Ryan Dunn is there waiting for them in the "Celebs Die in Threes" waiting area, and they say "You've got to be kidding me... he's our third?!".

Too wordy and not so funny. Much like the rest of my jokes. When will I learn?
