So I've been rewatching the second season of The Office (US) and it amazes me how each and every episode of the season was damn near perfect. I laugh regularly at every episode. The cast, the writing, everything was at its best in that season.

So what would you guys classify as (near) perfect seasons of your favorite shows? I would also include the first season of Modern Family, the first season of Heroes and maybe the first season of Lost. Heroes especially, for me, was so much fun to watch that first year. It's so sad that with three additional seasons, the show went from Grade A to dreadful. Actually, it did that by Season 2. By Season 3, my standards were so lowered, I considered the episodes half-decent.

Anyway, great seasons?

I should be clear. I'm looking for, start-to-finish, seasons of shows that should have (or maybe did) win Best Comedy/Drama Emmys. Of course a perfect season can be thrown by one or two lesser episodes.

Season 4 of "Dexter" was flawless.

This happened just recently: The Good Wife, season 2. (Near) perfect is the right description.

Also, Friends is of course my favorite show, and season 5 is the best one (i.e. the season where Chandler and Monica are first together).

Friends' 8th season and Desperate Housewives' first.

-Buffy the Vampire Slayer S3 was pretty damn top-notch (S5 was aces as well).
-Breaking Bad S2, S3, and hopefully soon S4
-S7 of the Simpsons is probably my favorite one (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096697/episodes#season-7).
-I recall S2 of Weeds being especially amazing.
-S3 of Parks and Recreation had not a hiccup.
-S2 of the American Office was through-and-through hilarious.
-S4 of Seinfeld (the year of Jerry & George's pilot) was gold, Jerry. Gold.
-S2 of Arrested Development. And perhaps S1, and S3...
-S2 of Beast Wars was good enough that I pretty much remember all of it still
-S2 of Six Feet Under. Or maybe S3.
-S3, S6, & S7 of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I will stop now, perhaps more later. Seems like season two's and three's are things to look forward to

I was trying to think of perfect seasons of some of my older favorites.

Season 4 of Seinfeld is definitely great.

The first season of Frasier was exceptional. My favorite comedy of all time, and while it started losing its edge by Season 8, it was still great. Just can't top the first year.

Season 5 of 24.

The X-Files is my favorite show ever, but I'm not sure if one single season was perfect. Obviously anything after Season 5 had its peaks and valleys, but the first four seasons had too many blah episodes to classify any season as perfect. Maybe Season 4?

I am sure some The Simpsons seasons in the earlier days, but I can't name a specific season. Same for South Park (except not just earlier seasons).
