I wonder when we'll know anything about PARENTHOOD. I sure hope they renew it for a third season.

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2010 Edition
After months of negotiations, "Desperate Housewives" is closing deals with the four leads to return for an eighth (and potentially ninth) season - the deal is for one year with the potential for an additional one. The actresses will be making around $18 million for two years and $375,000 an episode. I'd expect a renewal announcement soon.
Vanessa Williams is also expected to return.

Possibly two more? Really? I would have expected the next to be the final for sure.

The option for the ninth season is there purely if somehow DH stops bleeding next season and/or ABC completely bombs again with their freshmen shows.

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2010 Edition
I think they should sit down and plan out a final season of the best quality they can write that harkens back to the mysteries of the earlier seasons. And then if they can plan another season of good quality tv to be the penultimate season - they should. If not just run with the quality final season as Season 8 and call it a day.
Season 7 has been rubbish.

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2010 Edition
The Renewal Drama Of 2 Fox Drama SeriesQuote: It looks like no renewal deal is coming today for Fox's veteran medical drama House. Or Bones. The network's two longest-running and strongest drama series are in a similar position: both have been the subject of complex, drawn-out renewal negotiations as neither has a deal for next season. In both cases, the studios (Universal Media Studios for House and 20th Century Fox TV for Bones) have been looking for two-season pickups and have been looking to resolve things sooner rather than later as they also have to make deals with the series' creators/executive producers, David Shore and Hart Hanson, respectively. (UMS also has to deal with re-signing the original supporting cast on House whose contracts are up, though star Hugh Laurie is locked in for next season.) And in both cases, the holdup has been haggling with the network over license fees.

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2010 Edition
Let's say FOX only kept one of the two and one went to like CBS or ABC. FOX should personally pick Bones over House as it is still showing growth especially with its very good retention out of Idol this season. It'll most likely be paired with X-Factor as well next season. House has dropped a good bit but is still a big show. Let's say it moves to CBS Fridays and loses 1/3 of its audience. That is still a 2.3 demo on a Friday which would make any network happy and probably assure the show at least two more seasons.

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2010 Edition
I was about to disagree, but I believe Bones is a solid performer in syndication, no? That has to influence the decision somewhat.
On the flip side, House has helped make The Chicago Code a modest, modest success, whereas Bones doesn't really benefit anything. Then again, it's been paired with completely incapatible Fringe until Idol returned. I'm not sure why FOX hasn't tried a second crime series with Bones. Just seems simple to me.

CBS' Chaos is pulled off the schedule.
I, for one, am thrilled for the gradual demise of CBS Fridays.

Sophia Bush and Bethany Joy Galoetti just confirmed they renewed their contracts for season 9 of "One Tree Hill." James Lafferty is expected to return on a recurring basis. So I guess it is coming back

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2010 Edition
The CW has officially renewed "The Vampire Diaries," "Supernatural," "Gossip Girl," "90210" and "America's Next Top Model."
All were expected renewals though.
"One Tree Hill" has yet to be renewed for season 9 (though it seems imminent), and "Nikita" and "Hellcats" have yet to get season 2 orders.

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2010 Edition
No surprises for CW. I actually think CW might go to programming 4 days a week. Those six shows (I'm counting OTH too) make up for 3 days and nor Nikita nor Hellcats are strong enough for a renewal. Also they're not older shows so it doesn't make sense to keep them for syndication prospects. And CW usually premieres only two new shows in autumn, so...

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2010 Edition
http://www.tv.com/fairly-legal-gets-ser ... ;gumball;1I'm no Hollywood actor, but I don't think it's a good idea to appear on award shows and say that you're about to be unemployed even though your bubble show is still on the air. Brothers & Sisters star Rachel Griffiths did that on Australia's Logie Awards. Bros n' Sisses is rumored to be one of many shows facing uncertain futures, and Griffiths seems to think it won't be renewed. All ABC had to say in response was, "No decision has been made yet."

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2010 Edition
I'm not sure how Brothers and Sisters lasted this long. No knock on quality, I only watched the pilot, but it always seemed like it just milked 60-70% of Desperate Housewives' ratings each week. When DH was up, so was B&S, and vice versa. Never seemed like a hit on its own merits. I know that's true of many shows (*coughRaisingHopecough*).

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2010 Edition
There were episodes aired without a new DH as a lead-in that were able to stand on their own quite well. Even that 2 hour B&S movie event did well on its own.

Re: Renewed, Cancelled or Hiatus Bound: 2010 Edition
That might be true but ABC never felt confident enough to push B&S outside of DH shadow. That says a lot. And now they missed their opportunity to launch another show out of DH.
