The Thread Where I Predict SIN CITY to Disappoint..
Now, I've been hearing alot from the internet world about this movie SIN CITY and how Uber Cool it is and looks and granted, it certainly does have quite the stellar cast and all, but If I had to sit back and really analyze what this film is aimed at, I'd have to say probably kids or teens who've read the comic and all, but what about the folks who've never read it??? I've been to 2 bookstores now trying to find this comic to give me a more familiarity with it before I shell out $$$ to see this and I can't seem to find it anywhere.. Is this something where I'm gonna have to go to a Private Comic Shop in order to find this or what??? I've seen alot of predictions for this movie aiming quite high, but I have a feeling unless your familiar with SIN CITY, chances are, it's not gonna do all that well and seems more like something of an acquired taste.. Just a ballpark guess for box office for SIN CITY would have me predict:
3 Day weekend: 35 Million
Overall: 100-120 Million if it's lucky..

You call that a disappointment? Sin City will be lucky to make over 60 million total.

Well hell, I have no idea what it cost to make this movie so I was being generous when you consider that the Bar is just raised so high at the box office nowadays and thought maybe this had a core audience for repeat viewings, but based on your 60 Million final domestic total, you blew mine away..

120mil?? That would be incredible not a dissapointment for this movie. Sometimes I think you have no idea how the BO works. Alot of people who are anticipating this movie dont even know jack shit about the graphic novel ( like me )

As far as I know, it had a budget of 40 million. And it'll probably have a... 25 million marketing budget. I don't see it making more then 60, considering it's very different than any movie out there. Movie and Internet geeks will eat it up, while the general population won't. Some teens will be cut out because of the R rating in places that card, and not all adults will like the violence and... odd story. But the niche market the movie was made for will love it. It'll be a cult hit, I suppose.

Congratulations, BKB, you just predicted the highest gross for Sin City at the forums.
As far as the Sin City trade paperback collections, I do know that they just recently reissued them. They should be available at any Barnes and Noble, and for sure at a local comic specialty store. Frank Miller is awesome, so enjoy!

Ok.. I looked at BORDERS BOOKS, But there is a BARNES AND NOBLE close to me as well so I'll give it a look.. Hell, I thought this movie was considered to be big budget which is why I predicted what I did.. It's kind of hard not to with the huge budget these blockbuster films receive nowadays with FX and whatnot so I thought it was a safe bet when you consider how much summer blockbuster movies cost to make, a 100 Million seems like Peanuts now..

Sincity.
Will you now proceed to blast any movie whatsoever that has any internet hype ... because you'd be shocked to learn that the internet population is a part of the normal population and their opinions are not ALWAYS mutually exclusive.
Having said that, almost everywhere I've looked, everyone is excited about the movie but every single person is acknowledging its cult status. No one has said this movie will be mainstream (but hoping it is) and just as a lot of people have said here, you're prediction for it seems to put you as one of the most optimistic about its chances.

Yeah BKB... 120 million would be quite impressive. I'm having doubts on if this will make even more than 50 million, but we'll see.

This film will be lucky to make 120 million. Im predicting something around 50-60 million total. Nice to see that 120 million is a dissappointment for a 50 million budget movie but that 88 million is great business for a 60 million budget movie about 2 franchises

Especially considering that the former is rated R and the latter is PG-13.

Robert Rodriguez makes all his films for pennies on the dollar. He's a genius like that.

SIN CITY will not dissapoint, quality wise or box office wise. I'm thinking it will do KILL BILL numbers or higher and I'm thinking I will give it a 9/10.
