 Re: 2010 College Football Season
USA Today Will be
1. Oregon 2. Boise 3. TCU 4. Oklahoma 5. Auburn
Should be
1. Boise 2. Oregon 3. TCU 4. Oklahoma 5. Auburn
I hope that the #1 votes get split more evenly this time.

 Re: 2010 College Football Season
What? A 16 team playoff is possible as soon as this idiotic contract with the BCS is up.

 Re: 2010 College Football Season
What I really love about Boise is that they refuse to run up the score although that might help them in the polls. They sit almost their entire first-team when the game is decided. They could have easily blown out San Jose by 70 points. But Chris Petersen elects to give his back-ups playing time which will help him in the next years, but might hurt Boise with those laughable polls

 Re: 2010 College Football Season
I think Boise is damned if you do or don't. Either they can't win byenough or will get the "they should have by that much" argument. I think they should be going for max output and start blowing teams off the field. If you remember about 3 years ago when ou Texas and TTech were all near the top, one of the things that got ou into the NC game was the string of 60 point games they put together. That's what Boise needs to do now. We know their team is leagues better than everyone in their conference. They just need to show that to the voters each week.

 Re: 2010 College Football Season
I don't know if putting everything into one season is the right way to do. The reason Boise is in discussion is because Petersen managed to put on a team for years in a row mainly because he gave his juniors playing time early.

 Re: 2010 College Football Season
In my opinion, this is Boise's last shot at a BCS National Championship game.
This is their "perfect storm". Almost all seniors, Heisman worthy QB, ranked in the Top 2. If the BCS screws them out of the game, it will be the biggest sham in the history of college football.

Still not convinced on Auburn. Have yet to play a defense.

This is the best team they're going to have in a LONG time.
I really think you need to take reading comprehension classes. The polls are a part of the BCS.

 Re: 2010 College Football Season
Undefeated teams that did not win the National Championship:
2009- Boise State 2008- Utah 2007- Kansas and Hawaii (Both 12-1 while a TWO LOSS team won the title) 2006- Boise State (ONLY undefeated team) 2005- None (Yay! A legitimate championship!) 2004- Auburn and Utah 2003- Miami (OH) and Boise State (Both 13-1, Okla played over USC for championship, USC #1 in AP poll) 2002- None (Yay! A legitimate championship!)
8 years, TWO years with a legitimate champion.

 Re: 2010 College Football Season
Of the 49 first-place votes from Ohio, the coaches gave 36 to Oregon and 10 to Boise. This is an outrage. Always protecting your precious big schools are you? Oregon had not a tougher schedule than Boise so far but jumped them by a mile despite being behind in the initial rankings. AP will go the same from what I read so far. College Football is and will always be a joke

So, Oklahoma will be #1 in the BCS standings, not Boise. The conspiracy web thickens

Boise's opponent W-L right now is better than Oregon's.

 Re: 2010 College Football Season
Quote: Oklahoma and Oregon are in the top spots of the first BCS standings of the season, leaving Boise State chasing a spot in the national championship game.
The Sooners took first place by grading out No. 1 in the computer ratings. Oklahoma, coming off a 52-0 victory against Iowa State, is No. 3 in the USA Today coaches' poll and No. 4 in the Harris Poll.
Oregon is No. 1 in all the polls, including the AP Top 25 which is not used in the BCS calculations, but eighth in the computer rankings.
Boise State is No. 2 in the polls and seventh according to the computers, but the math leaves the Broncos third in the BCS standings.
The top two teams in the final standings on Dec. 5 play for the BCS national championship in January in Glendale, Ariz. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5697573
