Gun. So what should be done with that 6 team division.
Or do you think that is OK, especially if a team is usually playing good and keeps missing out on the playoffs.

Re: 2010 Major League Baseball Discussion
Twins Morneau supposedly out for the playoffs as Twins don't want to rush him back.
Doesn't matter as I don't expect the Twins to get past the Yankees in the 1st Round.

Re: 2010 Major League Baseball Discussion
The playoffs are very balanced this year. Much more so than in recent years. Only the Phillies late surge gives a real indicator of who will win it all. I'll rank them in order of likelihood.
1. Philly 2. Yankees 3. Rays 4. Rangers 5. Reds 6. Giants 7. Twins 8. Braves
The Twins would be much higher if Morneau was healthy.

Re: 2010 Major League Baseball Discussion
I'm not a big baseball fan but I was watching the Cubs this year so it wasn't too exciting seeing them fall behind then fall apart and parts get cut and sold.
What does bug me is why the first round playoff games are best of 5 but then it switches to best of 7.
Why is that? It just doesn't make sense to me because it puts so much pressure for the home team to win that first game otherwise you fall into a dangerous hole that you might not get out of.

Agreed as I stated before myself. And this is such a no brainier, I don't understand why it never has been changed. Especially since MLB always comments that they want to make it harder on WC teams. Like taking away all home games from WC team > Stupid IMO! But changing to a 7 game series who give the better team a better chance to win in a longer series. And it would add more revenues to MLB when the series does go longer. That is a win win for everyone.

It's only the first inning and the ump already blew a call. That did not hit the bat.

In fact, a funny thing to note is that this is more runs then they scored in all of their postseason games combined (weird, isn't it). A sign to come? BTW, thanks for joining the game.

Re: 2010 Major League Baseball Discussion
And Cliff Lee might have saved/turned around the game by pitching out of a bases loaded situation in the 1st inning.
Since no one has mentioned Lee yet.

Great win. Rangers have the upper-hand in this series. Not exactly the game of his life (remember the cycle). But yes, this does give them the advantage, cause even if they lose tomorrow, they have two at home (the only place the Rays have not done well).

Re: 2010 Major League Baseball Discussion
So how do you rate the no hitter vs a perfect game?
A no hitter is great but still a perfect game seems/sounds like 100 times better.
How would you call the 2.
Anyway, 2 great pitching performances from Halladay and Lee.

Re: 2010 Major League Baseball Discussion
Well too bad it isn't 1-0 as hit by batter and passed ball cost 2 runs.
Especially since homer has been best hit ball of the night.
And Yankees have blown 2 opportunities when they had 2 men on in the 2 and 3 innings.
And lastly, as usually the umpires suck. 3rd base umpire misses check swing strikeout of Mauer which cost a run.
And according to the strike ball box, this umpire is horrible on guessing on the outside part of the plate.
