Just too bad that Hamilton got hurt and Longeria got hurt for Tampa.

Both need to come back for the playoffs. Just like Petiette for the Yanks.

Well Deserved one too. The Rangers were always in control with the best offense in the AL West and Great starting pitching and bullpen. Who do you think they will use in the ALDS. I would say Lee, Wilson, and maybe Hunter or Lewis, and put Feldman in the bullpen. It also helped that Washington managed this season sober. ;)

Really hate bad umpires calling balls and strikes. The batter has his head facing the pitcher and only expects the umpire to call pitches over the plate.

As Jeter gets called out on a pitch 6 innings outside. And yes I don't like BS calls like this on either side. Just want a fair game.

PS. Why can't the ump move his head instead if hanging on one side of the plate and guess on the other side.

Or better yet, have the TV box call balls and strikes with a buzzer going off for called strikes.

Arod hits a nice homer as Jets lose the lead.

Yankees need 2 good innings in relief to keep pressure on everyone

And before I finish this post. A jet TD for the lead. .

Thank God Paps only had a 1 run lead. Normally he needs 3 to feel safe.

Anyway Yankees magic number to 1.

PS, I love that the announcers today used my chart today. Must have mentioned the last 19 games 4 or 5 times. Congrats to Rangers. Yanks lost their last 4 games at home in a season. Not sure the last time that happened.

Gunny, I love that another one of your comments/predictions is about to fall.

So soon the 7 game one will be wrong as the Yankees choking to the white sox.

PS. To the other Red Sox fans who keep on putting down the Yankees, lol, as they can turn it on very fast.

They have 3/4 pitchers who can easy pitch great games in the playoffs.

Half there teams are home run hitters who can win a game at any time.

Arod right now is super hot and he can carry a team by himself. But luckily he doesn't have to as usually some others join in

This series they were just unlucky to get so many homers that had no one on base. As 9 homers in a series is damn good.

Boy it is a nice morning with great Jets and Yankee wins last night.

As that would have been a tough loss last. And would have almost put the Red Sox back with a chance.

Thank You Paps for serving up those meatballs. ( And now he has an ERA over 4 with 8 blown saves )

Anyway, just 1 more Yankee win or Red Sox loss for the Yankees to get into the playoffs.

And since the 4 other top teams lost on Sunday, Yanks still close to best record in baseball.

Ha, nothing great about that win Gril, you're last 5 games that you won have been lucky come from behind wins. Hughes pitched very mediocre, and they moved him up in the lineup so they wouldn't be swept by the Sox, and didn't even win because of him. Rivera had his third blown save of the month. The Wind won that game, nothing else. Lowrie and Ortiz had homers that were killed by the wind and Paplebon had three strike 3s called as balls in a row in the 9th, the the pitch zone proved it. Dice Kay pitched really great and Paps did very good. Things just didn't go in the Sox favor in the last two innings. I'm very happy with how that series went.

And Gril, my counting was off on the final games. obviously there are 6 games left not 3. I'll give you 9-17 for the final month. Still have only won 1 of the last 6 series. If that makes you happy, than good for you.

Red Sox have a great chance at 90 wins this year. Never thought that was possible in July. Such a mute year with 19 injuries (136 different lineups!!! that was an unreal stat), but we really have played great ball overall. Looking forward to Mike Lowell day!

Hey Gun, Jealous Much? LOL!

First on Riveria, yeah that was disappointing but I was worried when they have to bring him out in the 8th and then sit there through a cold raining wet 9th inning wait.

Wondering how many times Boston has made Paps pitch more than 1 inning this year?

And Hughes pitched poorly. Whatever as he gives up 3 hits in 6 innings...in a game that he only had 1 days notice.

And yeah, Dice pitched good but no word for you on the great clutch homer that Arod hit or for Dice to allow it.

And you liked the series, well 10 Yankee homers showed that the Boston pitchers got bombed pretty good.

And after I complain about the umps for days without you commenting on bad calls. Coward? Now you use it as an excuse.

So big deal Paps got some bad calls. Then he has to man up and throw another good pitch. (And it is a lot easier for a pitcher to come back from a bad call than a hitter)

And big props to Cano for that huge hit off Paps.

And a great Yankee win to end it as you mentioned for them to end a 4 game winning streak. Especially with the shit game you said Hughes had and the horrible way, you say the Yankees are playing. That could easily have been a lost game but the Yankees came through.

Well then it is just too bad that Boston only scored 1 run to the 9th inning.

Phillies clinched in the rain.

What I couldn't understand is why the Phillies were batting in the top half of every inning, when it was clearly a home game for them :)

Nice for atlanta.

And only Philly won going for best record while TB, Minn and Yanks lose.

And too bad Boston and Paps blew it on Sunday. As it would be interesting if magic numer was still 3. Right Gun.

The Yankees have to be kicking themselves now. Now they can't rest CC, as they'll want to clinch. CC, Pettitte, Hughes, and AJ, and Rivera all had terrible games in a row. Are you really not worried about the pitching Grill? Yankees are usually clutch but they are hurting bad, and will at least need 4 good starters for the playoffs this year.

Beltre and Ortiz both hit 100 RBI's in tonights game. Big congrats for the two true bright spots of the entire year.

Tigers 13-6
Rangers 12-8
Red Sox 11-8
Angels 11-8
Rays 10-11
White Sox 8-13
Yankees 7-14

Congrats to the Phillies for clinching another deserved Division. Doc is a shoo in for the Cy Young, would you say. He leads the NL in Strikeouts and innings pitched, and leads the majors in wins.

Also, I knew you were being sarcastic, but the Phillies played in DC, but it felt like it cause there were more Phillie fans than Nats fans in there. And speaking of fans, did you know that Citizens Banks Park ranked number one in attendance this year (Yes, there was not an empty seat in the house all year).

So Gun. No dispute on these points. OK Glad we agree on that.

Now also it must be hard thinking of how Boston lost those 6 games in August with bad closers and starting pitching from your regulars.

And then the Red Sox would have the Wild Card Lead right now.

I really hate all these award talk.

As last year they screw up by giving it to Lincecum and Greike and not a Cardinal pitcher and CC.

Now this year, first all the talk about F Hernandez. Well sorry but his W-L record kills it. He should have pitched more shut outs.

Added to the fact, that there are good choices in the AL. Price and Lester are deserving.

And even CC. First he won like 15 games when Petiette went down and carried the Yankees to the best record in baseball. And as a make up to last year, his 2 year stats are very good.

And if anyone wants to talk about his ERA being a little higher. Then you have to look at the runs that are scored at each stadium and adjust for that.

Now in the AL, if everyone is giving props to Felix H in the AL. Then why not J Johnson for FLA. He is having a better year than Felix. With 6 less losses.

And also, even though Holladay would be a good choice. What about Wainwright and his numbers are very close to Holladay. And he is playing for a worst team. Plus like CC, you can look at his 2 years plus getting screwed.

So in ending, I just don't think it should be clear that Halladay and Hernandez deserve the CYs without any discussion.

Thankfully Philly doesn't have to participate in the race for the best record in baseball anymore - having clinched best record in NL, they guaranteed themselves home-field advantage throughout the playoffs and can focus on giving the starters some rest instead of winning games.

And Gun, saving you for last.

First more anti Yankee pro Red Sox. And nothing else talk.

Hey Gun. Don't you think Tampa is kicking themselves for the way they have played in the last couple of weeks. And Philly for losing to the Mets. And Minny losing to KC.

There are lots of teams blowing it, when they could be making it easier on themselves.

Also there is no guarantee AL winner, so the Yankees have as much chance as anyone else.

and the pitchers resting isn't a problem yet as they don't take days off. They may work shorten innings and adjust to days for playoff starts.

And on your big congrats to the Red Sox bright spots. Wrong.

Ortiz needed 140 games to hit 100 RBIs. Not that impressive. Personally, I would have named Youkillis over Ortiz. But that is just me as a baseball fan.

And for shame on not mentioning Lester and Clay Buck as *TRUE* bright spots. I think they should have been congratulated for good years. Even if you don't.

Heh, well it's not unusual for a lot of Phillies fans to be in DC for every game - it's a 2.5 hour ride down and the tickets are cheap. So even during May and June you will heard multiple "Let's go Phillies" chants there during the game. What was awesome about last night was that there were ONLY Phillies fans there.

My first time at a Phillies game was in 2002 at the old Vet in late August. Phillies were going through one of their mediocre runs and nothing was really expected. The stadium was half full and the fans were more concerned with the E-A-G-L-E-S chants in anticipation of another NFC Championship run than rooting for the Phils. Now Citizens Bank park is a packed house every night and has been for the past 2-3 years, although the sellout streak only dates to mid-2009. Times have surely changed.

As for Halladay, he pretty much clinched the Cy Young with another gem last night. Some other stats for Roy: he leads the NL in complete games with 9 (four more than Wainwright), 4 of which were shutouts (2 more than Wainwright) - and one of those was a perfect game of course. Roy is 3rd in the league in ERA (behind Johnson and Wainwright) but only by 0.14. His WHIP is 1.04 - 2nd only behind - wait for it - Roy Oswalt. After years of dismal starting pitching, it is amazing to have the best rotation here in Philly.
