Wow they a bit costly movies. I thought each of them could have done with 10-15m less specially C&D2 and Charlie.

Though all three should be able to make money for the studios

Hmm, this franchise will continue forever. It'll make $120+ million worldwide, definitely. Big hit again.

Nice number for Step Up but with the opening that it will do only OK though studios will get money back. Domestically it has slim chance to make that money.

$85m EXPENDABLES

Lions Gate paid just under $20 million for the rights to distribute the movie domestically and in Britain and will spend around $40 million to market the picture. Its $60-million investment is a lot for the studio, which typically spends less on its releases.

That article reads a bit like damage control from Lionsgate after somewhat underwhelming results they've been having. Killers will probably be profitable too after DVD and TV sales just like TE, but TE gets a heads up for that and TK gets bashed a bit? LOL.

Hmm might not be a solid money maker by TE will do good business and Lionsgate will not be at loss when its run is finished (including DVD sales).

I really don't see The Expendables making less than $200 million worldwide... Rocky Balboa managed $156 million and that was almost four years ago.

Ouch for Scott Pilgrim, that's going to be a significant loss. I don't see it grossing more than 50m domestic at the very best, and I don't think it would be a good OS grosser. Could be okay if it finds a cult audience on dvd.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

Yes it feels like SP was made a little bit costly. I don't think they will loose money but it will be difficult to gross 130-140m WW. Though with DVD sales I think it should even out for the studios.

Considering the overseas gross would be like $15 m.

Eat Pray Love's budget is reasonable given it was filmed in four countries although I expect a good percentage went to Julia Roberts. Sony should make a decent profit not only from the domestic run but overseas where I think it will be an easier sell compared to Julie and Julia especially as the book was quite popular.

Very nice for Piranha being in 3D this should be a good money maker. Nice for Lottery Ticket too.

Both have a chance to earn that much in the opening week itself, even if they really don't breakout.
