Hooray! We are "World" Champions!
Luckily a great Yankee offense led by Matsui made it irrelevant who we started on what rest. It couldn't have been beater. Clubbing Pedro Martinez around for title Nr. 27. I'm in heaven...

Even though Decade really from 2001 - 2010 but if the Yanks win next year, still true! Anyway, right now...for the decade 2 World Series wins Playoffs in 9 of the 10 Years. Most Wins during the regular season. so for the 2nd straight decade! Yankees are Team of the Decade!

Just glad they are smart enough to do this better than say, the Red Sox. PS. Wonder if the Red Sox will ever get back on top, like the Patriots, who haven't won in what like 5/6 years?

PS. Yanks going for 3 decades in a row: the 90s, the 00s and the 10s with hopefully a bunch of quick ones to start the decade. 3 out of 5 should pretty much close the 10s.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Now that the world series is over, now it time to predict the MLB awards (MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, Mananger of the Year, and Gold Gloves). Here are some of my predictions.
MVP AL - Joe Mauer (MIN) (Highest batting average, great defense, and slugging numbers too, need I say more). NL - Pujols (STL)
Cy Young AL - I think Felix Hernandez (SEA) has the edge here. Barely edging out Greinke. NL - Chris Carpenter (STL) (no contest here).
Rookie of the Year AL - Elvis Andrus (TEX), although Beckham has a chance. Nl - Chris Coghlan (FLA)
Manager of the Year Al - Mike Scoscia (Angels), mainly because of what he had to deal with, and got to the ALCS despite the obsticles. Runner up - Ron Gardenhire (he is overdue for one someday). NL - Jim Tracy (COL) (going from dead last to a wild card. need I say More).
I will do gold glove later.

Red Sox have 2 championships. Red Sox made the biggest comeback in the history of sports. And the Yankees are built for the next few (3-4) years... not the next 10.

I will do gold glove later. for starters....still hate the MVP picks... Mauer, notice how Mauer did nothing in the last 2 months including the playoffs. Especially as his power numbers crashed... and why not Jeter or Tex if you want to go with avg guy or hr.rbi champ with gold glove to boot. and to me, mvp get you over the top. The Hank Aaron award is for the best offensive year plus they have the 3 crowns: batting avg, hr, & rbis. so again to me, mvp should get extra points for putting your team over the top. and on pujolis, I don't get it as the cards didn't take off till holliday got there. and compare the numbers for howard and hanley Ramirez (esp as you push for Mauer). Anyway, I would go for Jeter or Tex and Howard.
