Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
So if you rank your teams by how much you like them:
1. Mets 2. Dodgers 3. Yankees
Correct?
Do you have a backup AL team in case the Yankees suck?

CC great through 6. 2 runs and only 6 hits. And on 3 days rest!
Edit. 6 & 2/3.
Now just 2 innings to go.

No, he got screwed by that Damon steal - it stopped him from throwin ghis best pitch cause of the fear of a wild pitch.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Man, I can't believe how bad the umpiring has gotten this year. They wrongly called Howard safe and if you warn both benches throwing inside, aren't you supposed to eject the pitcher who does and drills someone like Lidge did with Teixeira? Otherwise why even bother? They got lucky the Yankees won this one and that they installed instant replay, otherwise the Phillies would lead 3-1 and everyone would be discussing if the umpires were bought

First as a right handed pitcher, he falls toward 1st base. so he would have still been on the mound when Damon got to 2nd. Then, the shift is hardly ever done so I can see how the pitcher didn't react quickly by going to 3rd. You could even see the person who caught the ball was fooled or didn't think about it as he was surprised for a second that Damon was running. Just a hard screwed up play that the whole infield forgot about 3rd.

Just a hard screwed up play that the whole infield forgot about 3rd. That's not really a good enough excuse though. As Manuel said in his postgame interview, the catcher (where did he go?) and the pitcher have to be aware of what's going on at all times. Sure the pitcher might fall towards first base, but that's not enough to throw him off completely. It's not like he was actively flailing after the pitch. He and the catcher just weren't aware of the situation, when they absolutely should've been considering the Yankees have already done this a couple of times this season. Sure there's always the chance Damon still makes it, but if the catcher and pitcher were aware it would've been a close play.

OK, but I still ALSO blame the guy who caught the ball, he seemed clueless and very lax as he caught the ball and stayed behind Damon as Damon took 3rd so I think he forgot also. > who was that? the 3rd baseman or shortstop.

That was the 3rd basemen. And if that is the case the pitcher has to cover third, just as the pitcher has to cover for overthrows behind home plate sometimes. You have to be aware of the situation you are in at any time and Lidge wasn't

So wondering are the Yankees going to 2010 World Series favorites and it should be a fun off-season as I think a couple of the BIG teams will try to sign some big free agents...including the Yankees.

That's FYI, 2010 was just a different topic. I know it isn't over yet and Burnett is going on short rest. Pettitte won't be? (Thursday to Wed)... plus isn't there chance of more rain in NY on Wed & Thurs.

It's fucking over. The Yanks will learn from Game 1 and beat Lee tonight to win it all.

If there's a rainout in NY, and Phils manage to win gamesa 5 and 6, then it will mean CC vs Lee for game 7. I guess I gotta find positives somewhere

On Lee though, he will need rainouts cause right now Lee is going Monday & Thursday - 3 days? Friday would still be 4 days but Sat would be 5 days...
