Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Today saw David Wright getting hit in the helmet with a 94 mph fastball from Matt Cain which was very scary. Heard he has a concussion. Kindof like Clemens hitting Piazza years ago in the World Series.
Just saw Kuroda of the Dodgers get hit in the head with a line drive. The ball went off his head and almost made it back into the stands near the dugout! REALLY SCARY! Hope he is all right. Anyway, I wonder how fast a line drive comes back off the bat of a hitter?

17 runs, 23 hits. The Angels offense is still on fire, with almost everyone batting .300. Now if only our pitching staff could be more consistant.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
First Victory for the Rookie Trevor Bell. Also, I to show you the batting averages of the entire lineup of the night.
Chone Figgins, 3B - .308 Bobby Abreu, RF - .310 Juan Rivera, LF - .310 Vlad Guerrero, DH - .313 Kendry Morales, 1B - .303 Torii Hunter, CF - .307 Macier Izturis, 2B - .300 Mike Napoli, C - .300 Erick Aybar, SS - .313
Does anyone know it this is the first time that the entire lineup has batted .300 or more? Either way, all other teams wish they have this.
Edit: I found it..."In the 1930 season, every Cardinals player had a batting average over .300" wikipedia.org.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Something really has to be done in MLB with players getting hit. Pitching inside is one thing but now a days a teams big hitter seems sure to get hit much too often.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
and where is my Red Sox buddy, I am curious what you think on their playoff fight with Texas and Tampa.
And that pick up for Martinez is turning out to be great as he might be the teams best hitter overall.

Has anything changed within the last week that's worth commenting on?

Well, they did come up with a helmut with a pad inside the entire hat instead of just around the rim, like the current cap. They said it should be able to withstand 100 mph pitches. They even said this may become manditory starting next year.

I know Manny took awhile to come back from getting hit in the hands.

Beckett get bitched slapped giving up 5 homers to Yankees. Yankees proving they are a great team on way to division win. Red Sox now in a fight for Wild Card with Texas and Tampa.

Red Sox now in a fight for Wild Card with Texas and Tampa. So again, nothing has changed. This has been the case for about a month.

So 3 shitty games in a row by Beckett. Too bad with playoffs and wildcard on the line.

And yet the game is tied. They might not get a chance to finish the game until Sunday though.

The Yankees are still in first and the Red Sox still have the Wild Card lead. That's been the case for close to a month and a half now. I didn't say anything hadn't happened. What had happened just wasn't worth commenting on. I could give a daily recap, but I think that'd be kind of boring for both myself and anyone who reads it. Either quote correctly or don't bother. Quote: Well glad the Red Sox relievers bailed out Beckett. Clearly, since you always seem eager to bring up the positive things the Red Sox accomplish.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Finally, a game worth commenting on.
Wow, 5-5 for Kendry Morales (including two homeruns, which now breaks the record for most homeruns for an Angels switch hitter, with 29). Boy, what $600,000 bring to the table.
Also, the Angel get Scott Kazmir from the Rays. Good, at least that fills up the fifth spot (no offense Trevor Bell, but you just are not ready for the big leagues).

Anyway as I said above 2nd most followed team. Not liked! As I said before that I hang out at a local bar that is a RED SOX bar. PS. Best Day there when I went to the bar wearing my Giants hat on the day the Giants beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Because not many pros. I am just not impressed with pitchers who have ERAs close to 5 for most of the year. And half the team batting under 250. Especially with half their games at Fenway with that wall.
So overall thank god for ells and ped and now the trade for martinez who might be their best hitter. And wagner is a great pickup.
