Beckett pitched a brilliant game. I don't think he will pitch in the all star game at all though which isn't probably a bad thing.

Probably Not.

Just thinking about this, a pitcher probably shouldn't pitch if it is going to affect the All-Star game or they just shouldn't accept the All-Star invite. Not sure how many days they should sit but if they aren't going to be avaailable, the spot should go to someone else.

Yup, so how do you think the Angels will hold up with Hunter and Vlad for the next couple of weeks and when do you think they will be back.

I think we are fine without Vladdy, since he can be a hole in the offense sometimes, and the fact that he is only a DH. Napoli does better in the DH role than him. w/o Hunter, we could lose some offense and defense, but we are still the number one team in offense. The Angels still have Figgins, Iziturus, Rivera, and Abreu all batting over .300, and Aybar, Napoli, and Morales .280 or better. Brandon Wood (plucked from AAA) can hit for power, so fills one the voids. Our holes in the offense, Kendrick, Matthews Jr, Mathis (mostly the backup people) are improving, so we still have a chance to keep up without them until they get back. Our problem has been the pitching staff. They are good, but not as strong as they should be. It's the pitchers I am more worried about. Hunter wants to be back by the end of the month, but Vladdy could be a little bit longer, but that's fine, cause he not that important anymore. At least Hunter is still in the clubhouse, as somewhat of a hitting advisor/motivator to his teammates.

He might get in there since Francona is going to reset the entire rotation. They're starting Buccholz on Friday as a showcase in hopes of dealing for Halladay. Why Toronto is even talking with Boston I'm not sure, but this probably allows Beckett to throw an inning since he'd be looking at an extra day off or two anyways.

Evan Longoria is out of the All Star Game due to an index finger injury.

Micheal Young from the Rangers will take his place starting 3rd Base, which means that Chone Figgins from the Angels has made it as a reserve.

Yay! Go Figgy!

Whoa, today's game was one the best pitcher's duel's I have ever seen between the A's and Angels, and one of the shortest games for an extra inning game too.

*noob baseball watcher*

i was disappointed that the cubs couldn't do anything to get a hit against the phillies
pitchers besides the one run that scored.

it's pretty impressive that the phillies have 4 players with 20+ HRs each. that's a scary
lineup.

ryan howard is a nice player but boy does he strikeout a lot.

Red Sox get Adam LaRoche (.247, 12HR, 40RBI) for two minor leaguers. They also dealt away Julio Lugo to the Cardinals for Chris Duncan. We now have a plethora of outfielders and first basemen on the team, but they haven't yet figured out what they're going to do at short. Nick Green and Jed Lowrie are not long term solutions. Theo said he isn't done yet so we'll see what happens.

Another sweep for the Angels, and all three game were come-from-behind victors. Then again, Kansas City is an easy team to beat cause their bullpen sucks.

Afterwards, Manny did his impression of a bobblehead, to make fans happy.

Also, I am going to the Angel game tonight, as they unveil the logo for the 2010 All Star Game, which will take place at the Big A. I am excited.

Haven't heard any updates on the Red Sox lately, so what do you think is going wrong with the team right now.

They hit .192 on the road trip and they have the lowest batting average for the month. That's pretty much it.

Wow. Sorry about that. My Angels are batting .321 this month, with Erick Aybar hitting .457. Could be like 2002 all over again.

wonder what teams will make a big trade by the July 31 trading deadline and how much (minor/major league) talent will they give up.

Everything in this game was going great (4 homers), until Fuentes blew it!!! This was one of the most painful games to watch, it went our way until we got raped by the Cleveland Pedophiles in the 9th.
