I say we stick with the Moon for now. We need to go back there first before we try any Mars stuff.
I will be SO happy when we start utilizing NASA more like we used to.

Depends on whether they find any worthy resources in either place. It's not cost-effective to spend billions and billions of dollars so that you can look over some worthless rocks.
That's the unfortunate reality of space programs: They won't really start until there is potential to make money with them.

Maybe. But it's a terrible idea. We already fucked a lot of shit up on Earth.

It takes to long to travel to Mars and building a colony isn't happening this century. Our technological innovations seems to have plateaued for the moment. I would think a citized of the United Nations will be the first.

Re: Do you think we will see people landing on Mars...
The biggest problem is conditioning people to live in a state of profound loneliness in a very small space for months on end. How long would a trip to Mars and back take? A year? It's a terrible, terrible way to live. And how can anyone reasonably justify the hundreds of billions it will cost given shortcomings in education, health care, etc., to say nothing to the astonishing amounts of debt?

Maybe Mars has resources we can rape and pillage.

Re: Do you think we will see people landing on Mars...
Space exploration past Mars is at a standstill until it becomes monetized. It's only a matter of time until we go looking for resources on other planets, that will be when space exploration really takes off, but that's still hundreds of years away.
As to the question at hand, a human will walk on Mars during my lifetime, before 2050. As to a colony, no, that's much further out.

I will go there in 2019. For it is part of my plan.

Earthlings have become too short sighted and petty - - they peaked 40 year ago...

Yeah, we were better off right at the eve of race riots and considering gays to be mentally ill.
