 Tiger V. Federer
Who's more dominant, at any time during their career?
Because apparently some people think the opposite of the correct answer...

 Re: Tiger V. Federer
Slight edge to federer bcos of how fast federer broke sampras record(in around 6 years).
But woods is playing in tougher environment.

 Re: Tiger V. Federer
if not for Nadal, Fed would have 20 major titles by now.

 Re: Tiger V. Federer
Wow, so 1 year, less than a year from tearing his ACL, of slightly mediocre play (He's won THREE tournaments) and Tiger is less dominant.
Seriously, you all sound stupid.
The first 1-2 years after having an ACL surgery, athletes are not their normal selves.

 Re: Tiger V. Federer
He has won 92 tournaments. 68 PGA Tour events. 14 Majors. Even after months of not playing, he was still ranked #1 in the world. He has not won a major in 2 of the eleven years being a pro. He has spent 556 total weeks as the #1 golfer in the world, that's 10 years and 9 months. He turned pro in August 1996, there have been about 676 weeks since he turned pro, that means he's been the #1 golfer 82% of the time.

 Re: Tiger V. Federer
I think Tiger is more "peer-less". There's no-one even close to him overall, when Vijay/Els/Mickelson were in their primes they gave him a run but for the last couple years it's been a joke. Overall, when the next best players in your era are going to end 3 majors each and you have like 18, that's a pretty huge beatdown. Tiger's peak was also more impressive. The Tigerslam/4 in a row in golf is INSANELY hard. That also included the US Open where he won by 15 shots that was just unfair.
I think Federer's the answer here though. It's almost impossible to not call him the GOAT at this point. He's unmatched in almost every category and record. Major titles, finals in a row, finals overall, semi-finals in a row, weeks at #1. I don't know if Tiger will go down as the GOAT. First of all he has to beat Jack's 18. But then the other thing that's really underrated about Jack's career is that he finished 2nd or 3rd 27 times, as compared to Tiger's 8 so far. Jack actually could have won a lot more than 18, his consistency to be there every single major was insane... at his peak in the mid 70s he made 31 of 33 major top 10s and 23 of 30 top 5s. That's much more Federer-esque to me than what Tiger's done. Though even if at worst he's going to be the 2nd greatest or 1a/1b golfer ever, that's still awesome

Federer isn't the GOAT.

 Re: Tiger V. Federer
they both have amazing stats but I prefer Roger slightly more.
The 20 Straight grand slam semis is practically unthinkable, unimaginable, whatever other amazing word you want to use. This streak is just one that won't ever ever ever ever be broken.
That streak is like the double doubles that Courtney Paris is credited with. The next person on the list has like 20 and she has over 100. It's that incomprehensible.
His 15 grand slam majors now. He's been #1 for who knows long. His stats vs most players not named Nadal are in the 90% win ratios.
He's won all four majors and there have been less than 10 men who have done that.
Now competition wise vs Tiger it's difficult to compare as Tiger has to beat a large amount players every time out whereas Roger just has to get past 7.
Anyway, that's my opinion on this issue.

 Re: Tiger V. Federer
I really wish Federer didn't get mono that one Australian Open and lose to Djokovic. Otherwise he'd be at 17 straight finals which would be like the greatest streak in all of sports history, lol. Though 16 of 17 is still INSANE.

 Re: Tiger V. Federer
Federer wasn't even ranked #1 most of this year.

vs Murray - played 8, lost 6. But still, Fed is the goat at the moment
