Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
About time Big Floppy (or Big Sloppy as my dad called him) hit anything out of the park. Even Vladdy got one, and he only played 8 games. He couldn't even manage a single hit with the Angels last week.
Also, this weekend is going to be the big weekend. Not just for movies, but it's now time for the crosstown series. It will be interesing what happens between the Angels and Dodgers. Both starting pitchers are pretty equal, and the offense (w/o Manny) is even. This will go out to be duel to the finish (last year, the two of them were dead even with 3-3 records).

Hmmm, I wonder why the Chi-Sox went after Peavy. Their pitching seems fine.

And Peavy declined (thank god) because he didn't want to move his family to Chicago....or was it the fact they got pounded 20-1 by the Twins today. Anyway, my Angels won the series against Seattle (with 3 runs today off of only 5 hits), and the Tigers swept Texas to put the Angels closer of overtaking them. Thank you Detroit.

Peavy wants to stay in the National League, and preferably on the West coast he's said. I could see the Dodgers going after him if they have pieces left after the Manny deal.

The timing of that series was a bit unlucky... our 3-5 all-rookie pitchers in Fenway against the Red Sox bats... definitely too much pressure for them.

Oh Papelbon...
I think Jason Kendall is the only person currently playing who couldn't have hit that pitch out.

You're rooting for an NL team over an AL team? What happens if the Mets wind up with a better record than the Dodgers entering the playoffs? You really care about the Red Sox (a team that has no impact on the Dodgers whatsoever) that much?

You really care about the Red Sox (a team that has no impact on the Dodgers whatsoever) that much? well I like discussing teams that I know and the main teams that I follow are the teams that I grew up with. Right now, the Dodgers are #1 cause I see them the most, the Mets are probably #2 as they were my main team for so long when I could watch them, then the Yanks and Red Sox are next. Anyway, right now I am hardest on the Mets and Red Sox but there aren't any Mets fans to discuss things. I have problems with the exception of Santana, Wright, Frankie, Beltran and a couple others. On the Red Sox, who lots here like to discuss. I like to comment on questions. Like I did on the Red Sox pitching at the start of the year. On the good side for the RS, Bay, Youkilis, Elks, Ped, Paps to name a few.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Good game finally against the Mets. Ortiz is really scuffling now though. That home run didn't do anything for him. Outside of Ellsbury he was the only one in the starting lineup not to have an RBI today, let alone a hit. 0-5, two strikeouts. At this point unless he turns it around in the next month or so the front office might have to start thinking about a package deal (Ortiz, Buccholz, someone else) to go after another hitter. Thankfully Bay has gone above and beyond and Youkilis seems to be the same guy from last year, but they'll need another hitter if Ortiz can't get out of this funk he's in.

First place is nice. They haven't been here since the All-Star break last year. It'd be nice if it could last for an extended period of time, say, like for the rest of the year.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Memorial Day churned out some very bizaare games. My Angel pitchers gave up 17 runs to the White Sox (shame on you Santana). At least it wasn't a frusterating one, since we were not even close, but the Tampa Bay/Cleveland, wow, just wow. How can Tampa Bay blow a 10-0 lead, including giving up 7 runs in the bottom of the ninth, with one out.
At least I am happy with the series win against the Dodgers.

Can the kid hold up for the year?
