Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Wow, tonight's game was very memorable. Last nights was memorable with the CG, but this one had ever more memorable moments.
A sit down line drive catch by Figgins. Pitcher Matt Palmer gets the hat trick by going 3-0 this year. Not too shabby for a 30-year old rookie. Mike Napoli hitting .750 in the DH role. 1000th career strikeout for Darren Oliver. But the best play (and the biggest Tivo moment) of the night was Howie Kendricks INSIDE THE PARK HOMERUN!!! It could have happen to anyone, but Kendrick?!
The Angels are now back at the .500 mark with a 14-14 record, and put an end to the Royals 6-game winning streak.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Well at least one Boston team showed up tonight. Of course it had to be the least significant game but they won. Yipppeee!
Jason Bay is on fucking fire right now. In the 78 games he's played with the Red Sox since joining them last year he's hit 17HR's with 66RBI's. And in the first 29 games this year he's almost already matched his home run total from last year with the Sox. He hit 9 through 49 games last year. He only needs one more with 20 games to go.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Wow, three memorable games in a row.
Just as predicted, this was definetely a pitchers duels, the Angels best, Saunders, against the Royals best, Grienke (who was 6-0 with a .54 ERA before this). Both pitchers went the entire game (no bullpens), but the Angels got the only score, on a Sacrafice fly. Saunders got his second complete game, and his first shutout. He gave up 5 hits, but Grienke only gave up 4. It was just that lead off double that did it. We got into jams in the 5th and 8th, but the excellent defense by Figgins got out of it. To make this more impressive, it was the Angels that commited an error (Royals had none). Still, this was one suspensful till the end game, and gave Grienke his first loss (but just barely, at least his ERA is still gaggingly low). Lucky huh?

Greinke, as far as I know, in his first six games, only gave up two runs (from what I heard), but he finally got his first loss with us Angels, but he did show some great stuff, cause the Angels only got 4 hits off of Greinke today. But Saunders just got the better of him tonight, as the Royals offense just sucked. Grienke looks good, but he did face some easy teams to beat in his first 6 starts. Saunders is now 5-1 with the Angels now (with a 2.45 ERA). Santana is on the disabled list, and Saunders and Weaver are the best we have right now. But yes, throughout last year, Santana was among the best (him and Lackey), but the best pitcher for us throughout recent years was Escobar (who is coming back soon after being virtually absent last year), cause nobody could get any hits off of Escobar. Lackey and Santana are expected to return next week, joining Suanders, Weaver, and maybe Palmer (who is 3-0) in the starting rotation (that'll keep Anthony Ortega off the mound).

Plus Santana won the ERA title last year, lowest in both leagues.Think you have to take it away from the king.

I still say santana. IMO. How can BOTH be the best pitcher in the game? That's quite a statement!

Except there is no question mark on your statement before. Thus, you think Grienke is the best pitcher in the game.

So even forgetting about getting to and from the golf course, that means 3 hours. And anyone who plays golf knows, that doesn't sound like a real course. so putt putt or minature? Also when I play golf, I hang with my buddies at the 19th hole, getting something to eat and drink after the game. (PS, The 19th hole is a golfers term for the rest at the club, if you didn't know)

I do play. I played three times last weekend. 0 times this weekend. Probably once next weekend.
But as this thread is not about what I do with my 2 days off a week, please get back on topic.

OK, do you agree with me that the Mets Santana is the best pitcher in baseball. and what do you think about Arizona losing their manager - he sure has had a hard time since Aug 1, 2008 when Arizona was in first but Manny and the Dodgers pretty much took him apart.

Yes, the Dodgers magically made Arizona unable to score runs.
And no, Santana is not the best in the league.

And no, Santana is not the best in the league. On 1, Yup as everytime they score the scoreboard, the Dodgers were winning and they gave up. Remember when playing defense their backs are too the scoreboard but on offense, they face the scoreboard and they couldn't handle the Dodgers winning all the time. Think Scottie even agreed, the Dodgers looked like the best team in the majors at one time. On 2, Mr Baseball Discussion Man, who do you think is and where would you put Santana.

As of right now, Greinke and Haren are 1/2. Santana is 3.
And the Diamondbacks don't score against anyone, not just the Dodgers.
