Comon bullpen, will you hold on the freaking lead. That is the second time Fuentes has blown it. The Angels have a great offense (5 batters hitting over .300) and starting pitchers, too bad the bullpen can't hold it together. We seriously need Lackey, Santana, and Escobar back right now.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Well, we got the win today against the Spankees. Matt Palmer did an excellent job pitching today. He went 6 1/3 innings, giving up only one run, and only 3 hits. The Bullpen got through nicely, until the last inning. The Yankees rally in the ninth scared me a bit, especially since Matthews couldn't catch an easy fly ball (you idiot), but we got through to win it 8-4. We can split the series tomorrow, with Saunders on the mound.
Also, I am beginning to agree with Angel fans that Figgins needs to be traded. He was great in the past, but sorry Figgy, your time is up. He is making more errors than he needs to commit, and offensively, he is doing jack. Brandon Wood played in Figgin's third spot today, and at least he can hit the ball, which brings me to believe that he should be the third baseman, and trade Figgins for a real leadoff hitter.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Another thing I like to note.
Looks like the Angels not getting Teixeira was not such a bad thing after all. Fans were skeptical about using Morales as a replacement, but if look at these stats, looks like the Angels made the Yankees blow all that money on Tex (and C. C., who hasn't been doing much either), and what do they get...
Mark Teixeira Games - 21 At Bats - 77 Batting Average - .182 HR - 3
let's compare that with Kendry Morales Games - 21 At Bats - 78 Batting Average - .280 HR - 4 (including one today)
I know it's early, but seriously, based on those stats, Tex is so far not worth the $180 million they spent on him, especially since he is being beaten by a non-vet who is not even getting a million bucks.

Dodgers have the best record in baseball and are 10-0 at home.

Their road record is half decent too (50/50 on the road). They could have a 100+ win season, and cruise through the post season, that is, if they can dominate the NL East team in the season and postseason.

I knew that the offense was loaded, Manny would be great again and I didn't have the questions on the starting pitching as others Bills Kuroda > too bad he got hurt Kershaw Wolfe and Stults has been a good fill in... Only Mc Donald has been bad but they have gotten him out fast and I always thought he should be a reliever and not a starter anyway.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/preview?gid=290505119By DAN PIERINGER, STATS Writer May 5, 3:37 am EDT While teams generally have an advantage on their home field, the Los Angeles Dodgers are on the verge of matching a modern major league record for early home dominance. On Tuesday, the Dodgers look to improve to 12-0 at home and tie the longest undefeated home start in nearly 100 years when they take on the Arizona Diamondbacks - losers of six straight at Dodger Stadium. Los Angeles (19-8) beat Arizona 7-2 on Monday night, becoming the first NL team since the start of the 20th century to win its first 11 home games. The previous record was set by the 1918 New York Giants and equaled by the 1970 Chicago Cubs and 1983 Atlanta Braves - who were managed by current Dodgers skipper Joe Torre. The Dodgers are now looking to match the major league mark of 12 straight home victories to open a season, set in 1911 by the Detroit Tigers. . . . . . . . .

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
I think the Dodgers will easily break the record, since they play the last place Washington Nationals team (another sweep)?
On another note, My Angels sweep the A's in a series for the first time since 2004.
Also, I watched that clip from the Mets/Atlanta game, and that Carlos Delgado error probably has to be the worst error ever commited all year, and possibly the entire season (it was literally a Charlie Brown moment).

I have to say the Royals are the biggest surprise. This is probably the best team they had there in over a decade.

Have to go back and check last years standings as I know some of these teams were at the bottom last year and on KC, great pitching, especially by Zack Greinke at 6-0.

Texas and Detroit aren't a surprise because they were considered to be at least around .500. Toronto was at .500 last seasons so them being over .500 isn't a shock. The Royals have finished dead last like the last 4-5 years and for them to be 1.5 games in first place is amazing. I really hope they stay there because they haven't made the playoffs since 1987.

Royals were only 6 games under 500 last year and a couple of games in front of Detriot so I think they had the foundation to win. But Seattle lost 100 games last year and now they are in first place.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
We were over .500 last year because he had the best pitching the league, which totally fell apart when we lost Burnett, Marcum, McGowan, the 2-3-4 spots in the rotation, and replaced them with scrubs and rookies. So with that considered, being 1st in the AL a month in is a pretty big surprise.

Yeah, I saw the press release he gave. Apparently he had it two years ago as well but he just kept on smoking. Hopefully the surgery took care of it and he can be back in the booth soon.

How the hell do you give up 12 runs in an inning before recording an out?

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Jered Weaver pitched his first complete game, and the first for the Angels this year (he gave up only 3 hits and 1 run), and this against the top team in the AL (Blue Jays. Nice way to make up yesterday's embarrasing game (when the Angels got blown out by the Jays 13 to 1).
