Post Re: WoKJ Admin Election - User Discussion
Part of this process is each candidate remaining will create their own set of rules, so that question will be answered. The other question I didn't find very relevant.

On top of that, all the questions haven't been answered by all candidates.

Expect another question tomorrow, I welcome anyone to submit something if you have an idea for what it should be.

* But when will it be answered, as shouldn't we know what they want or plan to do, in theory, while we still have a chance to vote.

The other question I didn't find very relevant.

* Not really sure why as alot of questions happen because of the forum set-up and I would think everyone would have different ideas on how they would change the forums.

*** For example, during my run, I suggested breaking up the Movie Section as I feel that having threads about current movies and threads about movie ideas years into the future should be kept in different threads. Especially since 1 big day of someone/people posting future movie gossip pushes everything to the 2nd page.

On top of that, all the questions haven't been answered by all candidates.

* Well I would think that one question could and should be answered in a day. Is someone lagging?; as that goes to whether they can check the forum everyday. (PS. Since there are only 4 of them, I would email them the questions so they get them as early as possible.)

Expect another question tomorrow, I welcome anyone to submit something if you have an idea for what it should be.

My Thoughts above, see the *. But whatever as that is just my opinion. Do as you think is right.

Should juju and minne's votes even count? Neither's posted in 2009 till their vote yesterday.

and so should all from Day 1 on the site I suppose.

Anyway, should be no as if one hasn't posted on the site, they have left the site or they not have kept up on the issues on the site or the candidates.

Hopefully Eagle will not answer this based on the popularity of these non 2009 posters. IMO of course.

It's not an easy question to answer. As I've said, I'll look at each vote on a case by case basis, but the only RULE is that you had to be a member before this process started.

That's not to say I wouldn't disallow votes from valid members (I haven't decided yet), just that there is no all encompassing rule currently to do so based on posting history, and there are no plans for a rule like that. It's just too subjective.

Well then there is gold in the old members list > with about 200 KJ'ers that have posted over 1000 times in the forums. That means about 150 unclaimed votes out there right now! Candidates start your engines as Sunday is fast approaching.

I'll make some sort of ruling on this eventually, just haven't had the time to formally think about it quite yet.

Jujubee and Minneapple are members with THOUSANDS of posts. I can't believe anyone would even think about not counting their votes, personal vendettas aside.

They haven't posted in eight months. Obviously they are no longer members of KJ. Why should they get a say in who admins over KJ when they no longer come here?

Because they still know the users that are running.

It's not about who is best for the forum now. It's about who is best for the forum, period.

That made no sense. The best person for the forum now is the best person for the forum, period.

They were members for a long time, one was a fuckin' mod, and they can post as frequently or not frequently as they choose. The are members with a long history of posts and it stands to reason that they should want to have a say in the future of the site. All this '20 posts' or whatever bullshit is arbitrary. Lets make it 20 posts in the last month; then loyal can't vote!

Maybe it's because neither Magnus or Korrgan voted for Argos.

This should prove to you, Eagle, that this was a dumb fuckin' idea in the first place.

I'd actually say I'd be an entry on Perez Hilton. Who reads books any more?

I concur with Korrogan. I think my "minimum of 20 posts from Jan 1st-May 30th" is a good rule. Fact is that if a user hasn't posted anything in six months and then just suddenly comes out and votes (and proceeds not to post after their "vote" post), they are not an active member of this forum.

sounds correct as a starting point....

* Anyone who joined before January 1, 2009 needs 20 votes from Jan 1 to May 30, 2009, to vote.
* Anyone who joined on May 30th or later, can't vote.
* Anyone who joined on January 1, 2009 or after needs XXX votes to votes. ( Pick the number )

I also propose a good old-fashioned grandfather clause, as well as a literacy test should anyone still be eligible because their grandfathers did indeed vote in a KJ election.

yay disenfranchisement

I also like that the motives are largely the same as in the reconstruction-era South

why don't you go and round up the past 6000 people who registered in the past. That should give you something to do.
