I found it on par with A Bug's Life.. yes, many scenes were just amazingly wonderful (Carl pulling the house at the sunset - wow!).. like it less when it gets in-action.. found myself more engaged with Carl-Ellie and not so much with Carl-Russell..

Pixar is really hit and miss with me. Wall-E was extremely disappointing and overrated, whereas Ratatouille was the best film of 07. Nemo was just stupid, but The Incredibles lived up to its title. Up is another masterpiece and I am again in love with the magic that Pixar can produce. It made the kid in me come alive again while also feeling the emotions of getting over a loved one. This past weekend produced the two best movies of year hands down. A

Just saw it (3D version). I definitely enjoyed it -- Pixar can do no wrong -- but I'd probably rank it around the middle of Pixar films, below Wall-E, Incredibles, Ratatouille, and the Toy Stories. Even so, middling Pixar is better than 99% of everything else out there.

I loved the opening -- I cried along with everyone. I'm glad Pixar understands what Chaplin and Keaton knew years earlier -- that you can get great pathos without sound. But there just weren't that many twists and turns to the plot, really, like I expected. I mean, once they got there and saw the bird, I kind of knew what was coming. Well, not entirely I guess. I didn't expect the explorer to be the bad guy, I thought they'd join forces and have some wild adventure.

And I loved the dogs, especially when they played poker.

That, and stopping in the middle of a sentence to yell "Squirrel!" and then staring off into the distance for a few seconds before continuing exactly from where you left off.

I agree with the group that said the 3-D is rather unnecessary, in Coraline it added incredible little touches and wasn't a gimmick but was noticeable, in MVA there were some cool pieces but it was all a giant gimmick and had no subtlety or real quality, in this it has no real substance. There are a few subtle touches but its just not very evident at all.
Either way it is a magnificient film, I liked it even more the second time around.

Stunning movie. Moving, exciting, hysterical and gorgeous. That combined with the fact that this was my first experience with 3D (it blew me away frankly) and the impossibly cute and endearing short film Partly Cloudy, and it all adds up to one of the most enjoyable theatre experiences in recent memory.

I think this is my favorite Pixar. They mixed the humor, charm, and adventurous spirit of their earlier works, with the poignancy, depth and artistic merit of their most recent ones. It's both their funniest film for me and their most emotional, this is the first time I've cried in a theatre since Click (yeah... whatever). Carl/Ellie and Russell are the first Pixar characters that actually felt real to me...

I'd say this is the first film from Pixar that is truly complete. Terrific

Come to think of it, the fitting-ness of Pixar rediscovering the spirit and fun of their early days with this plotline is probably not lost on them. Nice little meta touch

I just noticed in the end, when they were doing the game of finding cars of certain colors, Dug goes "I see a gray one!"

Subtle one, Pixar. lol

I love Dug. "I was hiding under your porch because I love you" is the best line of dialogue EVER.

Well I loved it. I didn't expect it to get to me as much as it did. It's easily their most emotional film to date. Mix that with inventiveness of the action in the third act and you've got a near perfect film. It's right up their with Toy Story and Wall-E. And the film looks absolutely stunning in 3D. The only way this could've looked any better was if it were in IMAX. The 3D gives a real depth to the flying scenes and any shot from the house looking down through the clouds. It's one of the more beautiful looking films I've seen. Can't wait to see it on Blu.

I'm honestly staggeringly surprised that people on here goto see Up.

Obviously the film has fantastic reviews, but, I can never imagine me and my friends deciding to go and see a kids film. Or me and my boyfriend.

Do you all have children? or are you younger? Do you goto see all the cartoons?

The film has had an amazing response accross the board though.

1. It wasn't a kiddie film, the depth of the storytelling and the building of the characters are amazingly fantastic.

2. I'm 22 and if the cartoon is good, who cares if it is a cartoon.

My wife and I go to see almost anything together. That's what couples do.

I am also 22. No kids. But just like a comedy, it's just a release to see an animated film.

You see every horror film imaginable and have a Paris Hilton rank.

I went to see this on the opening day (Wednesday) at 10pm. The theater was about 80% full.

I'm pretty sure 90% (yes 90) of the audience were above 25. The rest ranked from 15-22. NO KID.

You should find a new hobby, then.

Knitting for instance.

That would work. He/She just needs something that, unlike moviegoing, won't conflict with his/her vanity, yet allows for a complete lack of common sense.

Because G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra and Sorority Row make more sense to see in theaters because they are not children's movies.

Just like how the remake of When a Stranger Calls pwns Babe or Toy Story any day of the week.
