Also, congrats to Ichiro for his 3,086th hit, which makes him the all time hit leader in a professional league for a Japanese born player. Speaking about Manny, are you disappointed that the Angels did n't try to sign him. ( think the owner was mad at Boras from Tex ) But for 1/2 years, I think he would make any good team a winner and the extra people he brings in plus extra connession sales pay for his salary. I am not too concerned about not getting Manny. As good as he is, he is kinda a jerk. I am happy with the Signing of Abreu, he is fitting with the Angels very nicely. Beside, Arte never wanted Manny to begin with.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Lots of great comebacks tonight. Dodgers. Mets. Boston. Yankees. And what happened to the angels giving up 9 runs in last 3 innings and 7 in 8th to lose.
Plus for the Angels, Vlad is out?

Manny hits 1st HR. Nice. Hope the floodgates open up for him.
Santana pitches a great game and has an ERA of .46 in 3 games.

Travis Snider is a serious beast. 9 RBI in his first 9 games. And he's batting 9th

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
4-7. Something is wrong with my Angels. Our bullpens cannot keep the lead, despite our improved offense (don't even get me started with our blown 9-4 lead in the bottom of the 8th). The problem is that since our best starters are on the DL, our best bullpens had to be starter (Oliver, Loux, and Mosley), leaving our lousy ones to be the bullpens while the best ones are gone. It's been reported that Lackey, Escobar, and Santana will all be back very soon, so hopefully, that will put Oliver, Loux and Mosley back where they belong.

Then again, the Yankees pitcher are never any good at all. They (NYY) can score alot of runs, but they give up too many runs, which is why there are alot of high scoring affairs when any team plays them (especially with the Angels) Let's not forget Garrett Anderson's 10 RBI night against them, or that 6-1 blown lead in the post season against us.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
They have a rotation of Sabathia/Burnett/Pettitte/Chamberlain/Wang.
Plus Rivera as a closer.
I don't know how that's a bad rotation, but...

Hahaha, well the Indians don't have a rotation or a bullpen, so...
Though, I'm not sure I believe the current take that Yankee Stadium is Coors Field of the East. Because somehow Carmona only gave four runs...and he looked terrible.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
worthless....either keep it at 6 games or make it zero. I would love for MLB to answer why it was reduced from 6 to 5 games.
At least this costs Beckett about 300 K for whatever that is worth.....
Beckett’s suspension reduced to 5 games from 6 From Yahoo Sports BOSTON (AP)—Josh Beckett’s suspension has been reduced to five games from six, meaning the Boston Red Sox pitcher won’t miss his scheduled turn in the rotation.

He shouldn't have been suspended at all. If he had stopped from throwing he could have pulled an arm motion. That is why I hate letting the batter stop the game so much. The Red Sox are finally playing better they can go for the sweep tomorrow. Lester looked good today finally. Maybe it was just April slump for the team, although a lot of teams (Angels, Rays, Yankees, Phillies) have started poorly, personally I don't think it means much.

Wow, 4 straight series victories to start the year... and the best point differential in the American League by far.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Okay, not too bad of a loss, but still a loss. Shane Loux did the best he could in 7 innings, but our offense just couldn't pull it off today. At least getting a day off, and being back home will calm their nerves. They've been in worse situations before, remember in 2002 with their 6-14 record, and they ended up winning 99 games that year, and a World Series. Even the 1998 Yankees went 1-4 at the beginning before winning 112 games that year. I was talking with my pastor (who is a avid Angels fan himself), and he said that it could the loss of Nick Adenhart that is affecting them as well. He even encouraged the both of us by saying "It is amazing that they are even playing at all in these hard situations." Being an Angel fan, even if we lose 100 games, unlike some of the other teams fans, we will not give up being Angel fans. In fact, my fanship is even stronger with them even getting out there. We are a fan strong franchise, even with a losing streak. No wonder will average 40,000 a game at Angels Stadium.
But still, get your mind on the right track, and get out there and win. Fortunatly, all of the teams in the AL West are doing lousy, so we not too behind.

Re: 2009 Major League Baseball Discussion
Well, a win is a win. Nice come from behind victory for the Angels, but comon Gary, you so should have caught that ball. 5 home runs for Hunter already!!! He could vie for the franchise record in HR in one season (the record is set by Troy Glaus, with 47). If he does this every other game, could he challenge Bonds. Wishful thinking, yes I know. Aside for Torii, look at the batting average for Abreu (.370). He sure is making an huge impact for the Angels. With him, who need Vladdy. In other news, Brandon Wood is coming back to the Angels lineup. Good, cause he is way better at offense than Abyar and Izaturis among shortstops, and is just as great defensively.
Let sweep these Tiggers to get it back up, shall we.
