its a mysql database issue. caches should be fine.
been happening since last night to a point where all you see is a database myql error. the main site loads but not the database content.
it happens occasionally .. then suddenly slow down .. then die .. then comes back.

Site's loading like the wind for me! Well, that's the thing, it will work fine for a period of time and then just go down completely. There's been several occasions where I can't get on for over an hour. For the record, it's loading for me but going slower than normal right now.
