Once again just fall short of beating the Celtics in Boston.

Ugh...
This game has been a nightmare. Terrible shooting, terrible defense, Oden hasn't come out of the locker room since halftime....
Worst. Opening Night. Ever.

0 points and an injury... great opening night for Oden
Thought it is noteable that Howard and Yao had shit first games too. Latter had 0 points.

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
Tonight went about as perfectly as it could go for the Celtics. The opening ceremony was great. The banner raising gave me chills, and beating Lebron's sorry ass again was great. You can't be the greatest if you can't hit clutch free throws. You're telling me he dunk all he wants and put up 40 (didn't come close tonight), but can't hit his free throws down the stretch?

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
Well the Blazers better put their act together quickly... first 16 of 23 are on the road, their upcoming games are vs San Antonio, @ Phoenix, @ Utah, vs Houston. Starting 0-5 would hurt a lot.

Spurs already doing hack-a-shaq.
Shaq just elbowed one of the guys who was supposed to do it. No call! HAH!

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
Yeah, it really does feel like Sam Bowie 2.0 at this point.
I still think we're talented enough to make a push without Oden, but if this becomes a continuous issue, it will hurt overall morale as well.

Tough luck on Oden Makeshift, can't say I'm unhappy (in fact quite ecstatic the ping pong balls didn't fall our way that night) but I know how much injuries suck.

Stoudemire just jumped over pretty much the entire Spurs team for a huge dunk.
He's taking over this game.

I was shocked how good Shaq looked today. He looks lean and in shape. He took his time and crashed the boards. Dang ... we'll see if he can keep it up all season.

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
I'm wary of the one game thing, but man, did I like that effort tonight. Maybe it was in part from the black jerseys or Mitchell's new glasses-less "g" look, but our team looked kind of ... mean and scrappy, they were in battle mode... the defense and effort was way more there than the last couple years... I think we're gonna see the Celtics effect on a lot of teams, everyone knows now hard defense is how you win... I like it a lot.
I was very impressed by Ukic... Caldy went down for half the 4th just when Philly cut the lead to 6 and were threatening to steal it, but he had some serious poise holding onto it. If he can do that all year, it'll calm a lot of my "oh my god, we have no backup PG" fears. On the other hand, Bargnani is as big a vagina as ever. I can't take him anymore. But then again last year for the first two games he looked like a sure stud so maybe I'll wait a few more games to confirm my judgement on him. Still though... a goose egg is a goose egg.

2-0... woot woot! Bargnani strikes back! On a side note, Tyrus Thomas' statline in the Chicago-Boston game is a classic... he started out 1-15, he's 2-17 now! Bulls ftw!

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
Great buzzer beater by the Gayman... Grizzlies should be a fun likeable team this year, hopefully it attracts some more fans for them
