I'm predicting a low 90's on both RT and MC.
It's next to impossible for it to match Wall-E, let alone pass it.

It's next to impossible for it to match Wall-E, let alone pass it. That's because Pixar basically has a free pass, plus critics are more forgiving to cartoons.

I am seeing 115 million for the open but very very good legs and getting around what Finding Nemo got (340 million)

It will open to $130 million and conclude with $320 million, modest leg expected.

We had this debate in another thread....no movie, not even blockbusters - that has a Rotten Tomatoes rating over 90 - has ever had multiplier below 3.0. The world would have to end around August 15th for it to only take in $320m.

Its appeal is limited to Generation Y, definitely not the generation that will help its legs.

So Iron Man has a 3.2 multiplier and Dark Knight has a 2.45? Iron Man has even less appeal to 'other quadrants' than Dark Knight.
I'd be very surprised if it had a multiplier under 3.0.

Re: The Dark Knight Predictions-bonafide BEST FILM OF SUMMER!
To be fair, the majority of films that land 90% or more on RT are generally Oscar films (that have leggy/Oscar runs), Pixar films (kids films, nice legs), or limited releases. That said, yeah, even non-Pixar or non-Oscar/limited films that got 90% or more do get 3.0x or more. These are some I found in recent years that haven't, though:
United 93 - 91%; 2.74 multiplier Hero - 95%; 2.98 multiplier (close enough, though)
Doesn't mean that The Dark Knight has to get a 3.0. Circumstances are a bit different.

I'd be very surprised if it had a multiplier under 3.0. Iron Man is a non-sequel. It was the first SFX superhero actioner in a while when it opened. And the movie has got a sense of humor which TDK has yet to demonstrate in its trailers. The lighthearted-ness of the film boasts a wider appeal. Maybe I am wrong. TDK can be an entertaining popcorn film which I overlook.

It still has summer weekdays to prevent it from having a 2.45 multiplier. It would actually have to crash and burn for a 2.45 multiplier to happen.

Re: The Dark Knight Predictions-bonafide BEST FILM OF SUMMER!
I see so far....
The film will have a massive opening day but will fall over 10% on Saturday.
49 million Opening Day 42 million Saturday -14% 30 million Sunday -28% = 121 million opening Weekend + 42 million from weekdays (it all depends on how big its Sunday is) + 58 million 2nd weekend -52% = 221 million in 10 days.
That puts it in and around Spiderman 2 territory.
It will not drop over 55% ever and will likely get 40-45% drops after its 2nd weekend.
I see a grand total of around 330 million.
Really if it gets over 200 million in ten days, it will easily get another 110 million at the least due to the fact it is the last major film of the summer.
We saw it with Spiderman 2 and DMC that being the last movie really enhances the weekdays and the softens the weekend drops.
325 million total

Re: The Dark Knight Predictions-DONT IGNORE THE HYPE EMBRACE IT!
I bought my ticket for this movie about 1/2 an hour ago, I have only done that for one other movie. This movie has Matrix Reloaded awarness which to me is larger than any Spider-Man or Pirates Sequel. This is the Matrix Reloaded if Reloaded was PG-13, except it will have better legs.
Opening - 135 million Total - 400 million
I got the HYPE in me!!!

Well I went to buy my 12:01 am ticket yesterday but it was already sold out. So I had to buy a 12:02 am ticket instead. Bring on the #1 movie of the year.
OW- 140 mil Total- 385 mil

Hey Excel. Check MC... it seems to me that Wall-E is already back on top of TDK.
Sorry for your failure.

Re: The Dark Knight Predictions-DONT IGNORE THE HYPE EMBRACE IT!
It all depends...
If it gets an opening day of around 40-50 million...
It should not fall more then 15% on Saturday.
If it is around DMC area then it will dive 25% then.
However with a possibile 30 million Sunday you will have major weekdays.
You will easily average 10 million per day on the weekdays.

It would be nice if Batman reclaims the opening weekend record that it last did 13 years ago
