I liked that woman, whoever it was, that hugged him and said 'you just won the olympics'. For some reason that amused me.

Re: Official Summer Olympics 2008 Thread
Yeah that was a good moment.
Felt kinda bad for the Chinese diver Zhou...can't remember, I told a friend it was Zhou Enlai which is a mistake - but boy, wouldn't that have been impressive? Who couldn't complete the Golden sweep for China. But I also felt bad for the other Chinese diver in the 10m platform, who was the only Chinese diver not to medal.

You were thinking of the first Premier of PRC?

I probably saw a brief newspiece on him during coverage of the games and that's why I associated Enlai with Zhou.

Why is NBC keeping this until tomorrow night at 7pm? They had practically all the other volleyball matches on their late night program.

The women final was also on tape, and I think this tragedy-turned-triumph type of story is just too good for NBC to not try to squeeze everything out of it.

Go USA! How I loathe Spain. Hopefully the US can destroy them.

Re: Official Summer Olympics 2008 Thread
What is the USA basketball team doing? Being born in Spain, I'm a wee bit torn considering how huge the summer has been for the country but c'mon team USA. Win the big one!

Re: Official Summer Olympics 2008 Thread
Whoa that was a blast from the past. I'm sure it's been mentioned before in the thread, but since this was the first USA basketball game I've watched during the Olympics that was the first time I've heard the "NBA on NBC" theme in years.

Re: Official Summer Olympics 2008 Thread
These have been actually a more successful games for America than the Athens games! They're going to get as many golds, 36, but a bigger total. In fact, they got more medals than at any game since 1904, minus the 1984 boycotted games.

It doesn't matter what country he's in - Craig Sager remains an ass.

i can't believe the coaches don't get any medals. why the fuck not? they ARE part of the team. wonder if that's the case for all team sports in the olympics. Jmart007 wrote: It doesn't matter what country he's in - Craig Sager remains an ass.
