The 10m women's platform diving was so great. Congrats to the two Chinese and one Canadian swimmer who won

Quote: So, while NBC is celebrating average prime-time audiences of 29 million viewers in the United States, CCTV is smashing ratings records everywhere. The opening ceremony had an average audience of nearly half a billion people, and 842 million watched at least a minute of it, according to CSM Media Research, based here. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/22/sport ... tv.html?hpDizzying numbers

Tyson Gay has a HUGE ASS. Did anyone else notice? It's kinda disturbing.

Peace, Mike Yeah, I didn't realize that we were on track to do better than previous years. But still, we're so far below what our potential is. I mean, if Australia with its 20m people can compete with the big guns, why can't we with more than 1.5 times the population? Mind you, I ultimately don't care about the Olympics, but still... Yeah, but we school them in the Winter Olympics, so it's all good.

And so it begins. 16 my ass. China is such an embarrassment. She was the main focus of the one people seemed to be pointing at as being underage to compete. I recall reading an article about her that was discussing how a chinese article called her one of the up and coming gymnasts for china and referenced her age as 13 at the time. However, that was rebutted with the response that the article didn't contact any proper individuals like her coach to provide an accurate age. Anyway, I'm pretty sure she's not qualified to compete in the games and thus that would throw the China team gold into question as well but I think that'd be harder to take away rather than just taking her medal and rightfully upgrading Liukin to gold.

I feel bad for him with his poor performance these games though...in interviews he genuinely seems like one of the nicest people I've ever seen. And not peppy happy nice....like humble nice with more than a touch of sadness (before his screw ups at these Olympics).

My home County of Nottinghamshire now has three golds... and a possible fourth tomorrow with Tim Brabants going for a second gold in the K1 500m final.
These games have been wonderful!!
