Re: Official Summer Olympics 2008 Thread
6 more days until the first official game starts! 3,600 hours of coverage by NBC and its networks, with 2,200 of them live. I applaud them for that, and I really liked the breadth of their coverage in Athens. But just one thing, the opening ceremony isn't live. I'm still going to wake up at 5am, but look like I need to try some luck from Chinese TV sources.

Starting at 7AM EDT, for an hour preview before the ceremony begins.

Man --- I am counting down to 08.08.08! I can't believe it's already August. I love the Oylmpics and I think this year's are going to be amazing. I came across this trailer for this documentary called Let it Out where they interview past winners and you get to see how they truly experienced the wonderful moment of winning. I can talk about it, but it won't give the clip justice -- take a look! http://www.facebook.com/pages/let-it-out-the-movie/18833527143?ref=tsAnother favorite Olympic moment:

I hope the US team loses too, they always do such an awful job putting together that team... they just throw together 12 superstar players without any regards to creating roles as a team or the international game. I think Spain definitely has a chance. Spain also has my favorite player (Calderon), so yeah, I'm cheering for them.

Re: Official Summer Olympics 2008 Thread
Which country will win the most medals? The last few Olympics it has been like this USA, Germany, Russia, China Can China win the most medals because they are the host country? I know the host country always has a spike in medals because it is such a huge advantage.

Re: Official Summer Olympics 2008 Thread
China was 40 total medals behind the United States in Athens, and 29 behind Russia. While I do think they will make up some ground I am not sure if they can top the total medal table, I think a more realistic goal is to win the most gold medals. China was only 3 behind the United States (32-35) in Athens.

Re: Official Summer Olympics 2008 Thread
SI picks for each medal. Look a little high on the host, IMO. Our athletes don't normally do well under pressure, and this is as big as it gets. They overperformed in Athens as they sent a lot of young players to mostly get prepared for this year with no pressure.

Re: Official Summer Olympics 2008 Thread
The US basketball team is ugllllllllllly... their "gameplan" seems to be giving it to Kobe, Wade, Anthony or whatever and just letting them drive in and pull up a shot, all isolation stuff. Smart defenses like what Spain and Argentina have should be able to stop that easier, and they won't turn it over as much, which is where a lot of the US's points have been coming from. Also Bosh and Howard took 7 shots today combined out of about 64 total... totally wasted. Australia was in the game in the 4th and Bogut didn't play.

Watching the replays of last night's women football games on NBCOlympics.com. Some nice goals, and good-looking girls too.
