Re: Batman: The Dark Knight Predictions-3 NEW TV SPOTS!
I'm disappointed that the Half-Blood Prince trailer won't be with Dark Knight (it seems like they're waiting a lot longer to unleash any footage on this one than they did with the other films). On the other hand, I like the lineup they plan on unveiling. I'm looking forward to Terminator 4, which could be the highlight of what looks to be a weak May. Body of Lies (hadn't it been changed to House of Lies?) has a great cast and director, so I'm looking forward to finally seeing a trailer. But in Harry Potter's case, it's not like it matters that much. The fans already know what's coming anyway.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight Predictions-3 NEW TV SPOTS!
Whats more nuts is as more presales ticketss ell, that just fuels sales because it makes people think they have to get them ahead of time with so many selling. Its sweet.
Re: 25% Sat. drop - Nope. Its drop will be under 25%.
It doesnt have enough screens. To get 60 million od, tid have to sell out EVERY SINGLE SCREEN or just about that; or even if that happens, youll get crowd overflow.
Itll be between 20-25, but not over it.

When I checked my profile, I found out that I had the most posts in the SR predictions thread. God, those were good times.

It's been pretty clear for a while that Dark Knight would obliterate everything in its path in its release date, whereas SR and DMC were squaring off against each other with the two opening within nine days of each other. Before DMC got a great campaign (and SR aweak one), there was actually (theoretically) a contest. Anyway, my current prediction: $55 million Opening Day $126.5 million Opening Weekend (2.3 multiplier) $345-350 million domestic total (2.75-ish multiplier) The opening weekend will be VERY frontloaded, but it can at least manage decent legs.

That is a very reasonable prediction, I'd say. A wee bit higher on the OW and we're all set.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight Predictions-3 NEW TV SPOTS!
The high Superman predictions were always fanboy dreams. I dont mean that offensively either. But rationally - it was always going to do $180-$220m and I think I bullishly had it at $220m.
But TDK on the other hand - fanboys and non-fanboys alike are bullish about it. It has so much more going for it and will break records no doubt.

Re: Batman: The Dark Knight Predictions-3 NEW TV SPOTS!
No doubt. In terms of hype/buzz not about the film, but huge ticket sales, ect. the only films i can recall from recent years where weeks ahead you were hearing reports about huge box office taking were Sith, Matrix Reloaded, and Episode 1. I think it's time to declare it official. 1966. 1989. And now...2008! BATMANIA has returned!!

I got an e-mail from a friend saying she'd won tickets from that site and I'm her guest. Wicked cool. I get to see it in IMAX twice before it opens, on the 15th and the 16th.
