FINALLY the damn (expensive!) Dominos commercial is online.

1989=2008.

I loveeeeeeeeeeeee it. W.B. Making like this the 1990's; just watch that commercial!

And I dunno what the hell theyve spent on domestic advertising, because they started heavy and HAVE NOT let up!

It had a $100 million marketing budget, although they said they might not use all of it.

Yeah, well. My reasoning is this: It will have a fantastic opening due to the great WOM from the first one. However the long runtime will prevent it from opening in the Spider-Man range. On the other hand will it helps it legs, especially since this one will have even better WOM. Might be a best-case scenario but this one will definitely surpass Iron Man and Indy

Ive been wondering..with 2 other films going wide n 3 openers on july 11; with the 2 1/2 hour run time, i gotta wonder if tdk can even get enough screens to do the 130 million+ people are predicting.

Where the hell did you get? 100 million for the U.S.? No way dude; heh that would be absurd. It must be worldwide.

It was in an article from the NY Times or one of those big media outlets (CNN perhaps). Anyway, it was around the time of Ledger's death and they said WB was re-thinking their marketing, thinking that they might not spend all of the allotted budget due to the tragedy.

Wait and see hwo next week goes.

If 2 of the 3 releases flop, TDK will have little problem getting enough screens and showtimes. W.B. are gonna have to work VERY hard to get the amount of prints nessecary to top 151. I dunno if it can be done.

But I still dont see anything under 120. Again, youve gor

July 4-Hancock
July 11- Journey, Meet Dave, Hellboy
July 19t- TDK, Space Chimps, Mama Mia

To meet TDK demand, the other release are gonna get NO screens.

Hellboy will not flop, and neither will anything released around the knight, expect big numbers, biggest July ever is guaranteed.

Well I meant under 35 million, which is not a flop...

However TDK will not face much anything over 25 million on its opening.

However, there are a lot of films around and many think the weekend when the TDK opens could be the biggest ever.

Anyways I see 116/325 million now and that would be number of the year.

I am very nervous all of a sudden. I am not sure TDK cannot get enough screens/ showtimes to do the 135 million ow everybody saying.

It could sellout everywhere and just get 125...though thatd lead to huge weekdays, but still...

Who the hell cares? Anything over $85 million is great for this movie.

I agree. I'll be ecstatic if the film gets anything above $85m.

The buzz and hype is fucking huge. Anything under 115 is dissappointing.

It's huge to you. I've been entirely ignoring the film's advertising, and have not seen a single on of the trailers. The film is less visible to me than Kung Fu Panda or Zohan were.

So a sub-$100m opening would not be disappointing to me. I'm basically looking at this as a continuation of Batman Begins, not as a film on par with the SM trilogy. And from that perspective, $85m would be crazy-good.

That shouldn't be a problem since late May 2007, and well into June was able to have multiple films in 4000+ theatres (or close to 4000), and plenty of screens/showtimes were given to them.

The opening shouldn't be a problem, but maybe the legs will be. The rest of the summer isn't as weak as Summer 2006 was, and Summer 2008 looks very strong well into August. WOM will likely be great and IMAX will help it's late legs out, but I wouldn't guarentee a multiplier at 3 or more yet.

its one thing to ignore trailers and other thing to ignore sellouts. 100M OW is lock at this point. The only question at this point is can it really break out. I believe that is probable as well.

Nothing is a lock. Prince Caspian proved that. SHOULD have been a lock to make at least as much OW as the original, yet it decreased! :funny:

Did PC sell anything at all before release. That were just expectations based on previous numbers. Here we have some concrete signs(presales) that point to totally different situation. Plus awareness/definite interest numbers for TDK are in totally different level compared to PC.

^^

TDK is selling out over the weekend as well. PC's marketing was poor(film itself is average), plus it was a real bad idea to release it in may.
