Nick and Devin at CHUD chimed in -- both liked the film (though only moderately) after thinking Batman Begins was tepid.

I don't get why Devin comes off as such a joke in regards to specific topics. "I like the film but let me tell you everything that I find wrong about it, do get me wrong so and so scene is good, but the movie is overstuffed"

lol, some ridiculous shit in there. Once everyone is blowing the film, he'll gradually get more and more negative to the point of hating the film, he already wants to hate it but he knows he can't.

He went into it with his mind made up. He was bashing the fucking marketing months ago for crying out loud, never mind the actual movie. He has no credibility in my book. Fantastic Four better than Batman Begins? :hahaha:

Excel, do you know the massive spoiler? I'm kinda disappointed that I know it, but it sounds like an incredible ending. Some fanboys are going to be highly pissed, but I think it's epic storytelling and revolutionary for a superhero movie.

Spoiler: show
Rachel dies. She is tied to a chair surrounded by gasoline barrels and timed explosives which go off after Joker gives Batman the wrong address to save her (instead Batman finds Dent who's stuck in a similar situation to Rachel).

Batman captures but doesn't kill The Joker after his failed attempt at a terrorist "social experiment" involving two ferry boats rigged to explode and the passengers have the choice of either imminent death or detonating the opposite boat. The Joker then reveals that he's managed to lure Dent into criminal insanity after the death of Rachel Dawes, leading to a murderous rampage committed by Dent/Two-Face in his blind quest for vengeance.

Dent kidnaps Gordon's family in order to make Gordon suffer the same way he did after losing Rachel. Batman arrives just in time to save Gordon's son and sends Dent plummeting to his death. That's right, Two-Face dies. Gordon sadly remarks on the inevitable disillusionment of Gotham once Dent's crime-spree as Two-Face comes to light. Batman decides to take the blame for Two-Face's actions in order to preserve Dent's legacy as Gotham's redeemer. As Batman flees the encroaching police, Gordon explains to his son that Batman is the hero Gotham deserves, but not the hero it "needs right now. He is more than a hero. He is the silent guardian. He is the Dark Knight." Cut to credits.

Knew that for the most part. for those who dont-

Spoiler: show
Upon escape from from prison and after the hospital massacre, joker kidnaps dent and rachel and bounds them in chairs surrounded by gasoline barrels in warehouses and tells bats to save one. In Rachel he has the person who he wants to have a normal life with, in Harvey he has the person who can give him the normal life. Batman phones gordon to save the other. batman choses rachel. he gets there just in time! meanwhile, gordon gets to the other warehouse which explodes (we see this shot in the trailer). Harvey is dead! But no...wait...Joker tricked Batman! he switched the addresses! Batman opens the door to find HARVEY...than who was in the other one???  THE SHOCKING TWIST!!!

There you go. brilliant shit.

I disagree with what you said at the hype that Nolan is possibly done. From the sounds of it, hes just getting started. I mean, "
Spoiler: show
just not what gotham needs now"
just SCREAMS Nolan has more up his sleeve, which knowing him, he does.

I hope you're right. I just don't see how he's going to top this ending, and granted I do think Ledger's death has thrown a huge wrench into the situation.

I doubt it. Given all the acclaim and moneythis film is gonna do he'd be nuts to leave. Whatever they had planned for Joker-which was rumored to be tiny-can be edited out. They werent gonna have the same main villain two straight films, no matter how good he was.

It is confirmed that my theater is going to have extended late show times till 4am for Thursday night. We haven't had shows past midnight for a movie since Spider-Man 3 (that one we had 24 hours). So, take that as you will ;)

Could we see a $60m OD?

It seems this is the only film anytime soon that can break Spidey's OD record.

I would too; it would be AWESOME.

I obviously don't want to hype and overhyped film, but it's not an impossible number. I think we know, at least, that a film CAN make that much in a day.

Em, I personally think $51m for the opening day, which would be crazy-good.

Anytime you make more in one day than the previous movie's opening weekend, you are doing pretty damn awesome. :D

I honestly would not be shocked if it does break Spidey's OD record though. The fanboy hype is just enormous, and the reviews are literally some of the best you'll ever see for such a film. It's blowing people away. With the IMAX boost, I would not be surprised if it can pull off a $60 million OD. After that though, it will be way more frontloaded on OW than Spidey 3. In the long run, it will be LESS frontloaded. But for opening weekend, it will be very frontloaded because it does not have the kid audience on Saturday that Spidey does. This is the type of scenario I think could play out if $60 million OD becomes reality:

Fri - $60m
Sat - $42m (-30%)
Sun - $31m (-25%)

You can't get $60m based on fanboys. You need all demographics across the board. I mean, there might not seem to be such a difference between $51m and $60m, but each extra million makes a world of difference.

I'd say any amount it makes more than $30m will be from casual filmgoers drawn in by the marketing, BB, and the hype. So can the film double the number of hardcore fanboys on day one?
