 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
So Atlanta and Philly are going into like a free agent street rumble over Josh Smith, lol. Atlanta has said they'll match any offer for him... but Philly has more capspace at the moment so they could realistically make the contract frontloaded for this year and try to bully the Atlanta front office out of being able to afford it unless they really cough up luxery tax money. Atlanta could also end up matching whatever the offer is for Smith, and then demand Igoudola comes back the other way, if Philly really wants him. It's one of those things where the Sixers don't want to look like weaklings for not getting anyone this summer, and Atlanta doesn't want to kill their already small fanbase, so either way, the real winner here is Josh Smith's wallet!

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
So long Seattle SuperSonics. We hardly cared about ye. That saying, the city of Seattle is not without some sort of hope in getting a team back. And oddly enough, they'd be called the Sonics and still have the same colors seeing as part of the deal allows the city of Seattle to keep the name and the colors. They just need either a new team to form or another franchise to relocate (if I read it and understood it correctly). That and this new OKC team will not be called the Sonics. Here's the article - http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=A ... &type=lgns

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
4 choices
Oklahoma City Barons Oklahoma City Thunder Oklahoma City Thunderbirds Oklahoma City Outlaw
Barons seems to be the frontrunner. Thunderbirds is by far the most lame though, so that's probably what it'll end up being.
Memphis is surely moving soon, so maybe the Sonics will only take a few years break before coming back, lol.

Baron Davis signs in for the Clippers. That definitely makes the Clippers relevant, albeit not necessarily a playoff team. The West is tough like that.

Golden State offered Brand $100m for 5 years. Clippers only $65.

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
Pretty obvious that the Wizards front office would rather have a consistently money making playoff team with a marketable star, than actually trying to create a long term plan to contend
Feel kind of sorry for Wiz fans.

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
Warriors get bamboozled by the mother fuckin' Clippers, thats really the saddest thing....ever.
Hopefully some type of revenge can come out of all of this, either we steal Brand or they'll at least now have to find a way to pay Brand quite a bit more than they expected.
If W's can get Iguodala or Josh Smith out of this situation than I'll be perfectly fine with what happened, but I don't think that will happen. One way or another, they need to throw money out there and get some talent, don't hold on to it, thats losers mentality.

Orlando summer league. http://www.nba.com/magic/news/summerleague.htmlIf not your club, maybe you can check some players, like first two choices in this years draft. Rose and Beasley will soon play against each other. Just click on that Watch Live pic in lower left corner.

Brand is likely to go to 76ers and Maggette just got overpaid by the Warriors.
Clips are fucked.

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
God is a Celtics fan... Satan loves the Clippers.
Actually they still could get Smith, Biedrins, Okafor or even a Deng or Ellis or something with the money they have left now... or Igoudola, which would be fucking hilarious. But no chance of contending like they had before.
GS has no idea what they're doing

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
Big prospect Brendon Jennings just decided to go to Europe, and not college. This could be big thing. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/b ... f=si_ncaabQuote: TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Arizona signee Brandon Jennings will pursue a professional basketball career in Europe, backing out on his commitment to the Wildcats.
"Over the course of the last two months I have consulted a number of people in basketball before coming to this decision," Jennings said in a statement released Tuesday night through his attorney, Jeff Valle. "I would like to thank the University of Arizona for their interest and support through this process."
Jennings, who played his final two high school seasons for Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, had not yet become academically eligible to play at Arizona.
He had been awaiting the results of a third college entrance exam, but decided instead to give up his scholarship, Valle said in a phone interview Tuesday night from his Los Angeles office.
"We don't know the results of the test," Valle said. "He's been trying to make this decision as he waited through the eligibility process."
Jennings was rated one of the top point guard recruits in the country and was expected to start for the Wildcats this season.
Jennings could not jump to the NBA, which requires players to be at least one year removed from their high school classes graduation before being eligible to play in the league.
Valle said several European teams have expressed interest in Jennings, but would not reveal where his client might be headed.
"We're disappointed in terms of Brandon's decision, but we want to wish him the best of luck," Arizona coach Lute Olson said in a statement. "We hope that things turn out well for him in the future."

Wow, Jennings must be an academic dumbass. Can he still go to the NBA after next year? Kid has game and I love his haircut.

I think the doucheprick part though is that from what I know, he actually informed the Clippers at the end of the season that he wanted to play with Baron, and then took the buyout with the illusion that he was taking a paycut to give them the oppurtunity to sign them. But then threw that out the window and bolted when a bigger offer came.

But then threw that out the window and bolted when a bigger offer came. Oh, he's a dick. But I'm just saying, in terms of both a financial and competitive presepctive, 76ers made more sense. Offering better money and he has a better shot there. I honestly would not be surprised that in the 2009-2010 season, the 76ers are a top 4 seed. A lot depends on the Igoudola thing. Theoretically if the Clippers used their leftover money from the Brand thing to sign Smith or Okafor, then Atlanta or Charlotte would have "the hammer"/most capspace and could offer more to Igoudola than the Sixers could (or they could try for Deng or Ellis, though with the latter it sounds like a deal is already there with the Warriors). Or the Sixers could trade Iggy for someone who can shoot and compliment Brand more. As long as they have someone good though, I think they're in the hunt for the ECF.

Not sure if he can go to draft (but don't see a reason why not), but for sure can play in NBA.

Apparantley the Clippers offered a second round pick for Zach Randolph but NY turned it down... why, I don't know. I would've done it in a heartbeat if I was the Knicks.
Clippers cement their status as the worst organization in sports history if they do this.

 Re: NBA 2008-2009 season
Camby just went to the Clippers for a 2nd round pick WTF? Denver is insane... I mean if nothing else Camby is 10 mil expiring in the 2010 Lebron year, you could let that run out or at least find a NJ-esque team who'd like that relief... and he still helps you, unlike say, Randolph, you makes you worse and has a bad contract. A 2nd round pick? Clippers will have Camby, Mobley, Tim Thomas all expiring in the Lebron year... and they might be a playoff team till then anyways. I guess they thought they weren't gonna get their hands on Okafor or Iggy or Smith.
