I don't remember noticing a difference between COD4 control scheme and most other console shooters on the 360. What is different about it to you?

The difference is that I'm a better player than you and therefor notice these things easier.

COD4's control scheme is different from, say, Halo 3. Kinda.

COD4 is the basic same control as Halo invented back in 2001, which is to say it's great. I think Squee is finally discovering what I've been saying for the past 7 years, but he wants to pretend like he just discovered it and that COD4 was the first to do it. :disgust:

Call of Duty 4 is superior to Halo 3 in every single way imaginable. Its score is better. Its level design is better. Its story is better. Its gameplay is better. Its graphical capability is better. Its also less cartoonish, more frantic and more challenging.

Also you can kill dogs.

Next 360 game on my list, Mass Effect... or I'll wait for Bioshock to get here so I can yet again proclaim another game as being far superior to anything called Halo.

 As eluded to by the wacky smilie... you crazy Squee!

Nobody was comparing Halo 3 to COD4 as a game! Where did you get that?

We were talking control schemes only. You said that COD4's control scheme was awesome. I pointed out it was the exact same control scheme used by Halo 7 years ago (minus a few minor button actions tied to different buttons). But, throw Halo out of the picture... just about every FPS since then has used that control scheme since then.

I'm merely pointing out that your late to the party, and once again have won the debate convincingly, leaving you embarrassed and grasping for straws.

Game... Set... Match... TonyMontana :hump:

As a single player experince, Call of Duty 4 is better than Halo 3. However, Halo 3's 4 player co-op elevates the campaign way beyond Call of Duty 4's campaign. It makes it so much more fun to play. As for which is more frantic and more challenging.... Halo 3 on Legendary by yourself. It's not even a contest. It's not fucking cheap like Call of Duty 4 is on Veteran with all the unlimited enemy respawning that only stops when you cross some invisible line. I'm sorry Squee, but that is not challenging, it's a fucking cheap ploy to make the game artifically harder than it really is. I still beat Veteran with relatively no problem, but Legendary is quite another story. It's actually truely hard and very challenging.

Bioshock is a better single player experience than either Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4.

I personally would take Halo 3 over COD4 anyday in any category: singleplayer, multiplayer, or co-op.

But, that's just me as I tend to prefer sci-fi shooters to gritty realistic war shooters (modern or ancient history). With that being said, COD4 was as good for me as a war shooter could ever get.

Short short review of Call of Duty 4. (single player only)

My favorite Call of Duty. First of all, the controls are incredibly tight, one of the best on the consoles for its genre. Outside of that, the presentation is rather amazing. The Nuclear explosion is a big "what the hell???" moment and I loved how the game was ended, rather cool. One of the best shooters ever made, and currently the best on the 360.

Graphics: 9.5
Sound: 10
Hours to Money Spent Coefficient: 8.0
Gameplay: 10
Personal Bias: 10

Overall Score: 9.6

Bioshock: First Impressions

Blown away. The atmosphere is incredible. The story kind of feels like Metroid Prime to me. In that, the plot that drives you forward is rather bland, basically just doing stuff for what feels like no reason. But it's the story of the place that really shines. I love hearing the splicers talking to themselves, I love listening to the recordings left strewn about the place, and I love the old old music, just makes it feel all the more creepy.

Could end up surpassing Call of Duty 4 as the best shooter on the 360 platform.

I love the nuke scene in Call of Duty 4

I love playing a classic computer game and that is ROME TOTAL WAR. You can make any sort of battle you want and watch it as watching a LOTR movie. You can take a small kingdom and rule the whole world and you play out the most famous battles of all time. The Game is really great especially for those who are a fun of history.

10/10

Bioshock (360)

Yep, this game is pretty damn amazing. I just got to the twist and stopped for a while. Haven't really been able to put the controller down much since I got the game. My two favorite levels so far, the plastic surgeon level and the artist type crazy guy level... Most of the game is insanely scary, but in more of a creepy sort of way than in a "HOLY CRAP *hides*" kind of way. Though there were a couple of those moments in the crazy artist guy level.

Love love love this game.

Did you get a 360, Squee? You have to play Dead Rising... you can not say your life is complete without playing that game.

Also, I love your "Hours to Money Spent Coefficient" rating... every review should have that!

It's on the list of games to play. A couple games away. Finish Bioshock, then play Mass Effect, and then might move on to dead rising.

I find myself a little lenient with the rating, but with games getting shorter and shorter just have to adapt and deal with it.

You're scared by it?
Then again its understandable to transition from destroying cutsey walking mushrooms and happy star faces to 360 games

Got Ninja Gaiden 2 on the mail yesterday. Im pretty much on the last level but the game is as frustratingly hard as the last Ninja Gaiden. I find myself cursing that it took me 30 tries to beat on the armadillo boss monsters and that was only through the mid level. I wish they really would tone down the difficulty level on the game. I had the same problem with Lost Planet

Mini Review

Bioshock (360):

Consider me impressed. One of the best games I've seen in terms of presentation. The atmosphere they wanted to create worked like a charm. Downright the creepiest game I've ever played. I'm a bit sad that it is now over, as I will probably consider it my favorite FPS. I wanted to explore every little detail, which I pretty much did. Ended my first go through with 49/50 achievements. They were surprisingly well done, nothing stupid like "Kill 10 big daddies using the security bullseye plasmid." I also found that most of the collecting achievements were reasonable as well, finding myself almost done with them anyway near the end without even looking at a guide. I loved the audio diaries. Finally something to collect a bunch of that's actually interesting. The gameplay was fun, though not as precise as say call of duty or PC FPS, it didn't matter much as head shots don't make a huge bit of difference. Near the end I just found myself shocking people and hitting them over the head with a wrench, which was surprisingly satisfying.

Overall I'd say it was my favorite game of 2007.

Ninja Gaiden 2 B+ Shorter than the last NG and as frustratingly hard on some levels. The kill shots are very cool looking but it seems like the game has less arsenal moves than the last NG. The graphics and story are very top notch.

Bourne Conspiracy D I beat this game in less than 5 hours. Im glad it was only a gamefly rental or I would have been pissed if I had to pay full price. I felt the game was a very stripped down version of Drakes Fortune and the car controls just suck

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2

The only other Dragon Ball game I played before this one was the original Budukai, which I enjoyed, but I was hoping for a bigger game of sorts. Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is basically what I was wanting from the original BUdokai. It has over 100 playable characters (I haven't unlocked them all yet, the Story Mode is quite long :D ), and it's not quite as many characters as Tenkaichi 3, but it's good enough and I'm probably not going to have most of the GT characters (I think) which is okay since I never watched GT. The light RPG elements are really cool too.

8/10

Mass Effect - Just about 2 hours in. Love the character create. The graphics are very good (especially the character models). The combat is decent (thank god it's not turn based like KOTOR!). I don't like all the equipping and upgrading shit, and there are times I feel a little overwhelmed with missions and plot. Overall it seems decent so far.

Stuntman: Ignition Just finished this semi-oldie. It was short, but more fun than I thought it would be. Liked the fake movies and the trailers for them. However, it could be frustrating at times and overall the gameplay feels really confined.

I also just got Ninja Gaiden 2 finally, and that one is on deck...

Final Fantasy Tactics A2:
Grimoire of the Rift
DS

Bought this last night, and I've played few hours so far, and it's very much like Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced for the GBA. Which is a very good thing since I loved that game. I read there are more jobs, and several hundred hours of gameplay which is nice. Always something to go out and do.

Finally got to play Condemned Criminal Origins. One of the most fantastic and underrated games in my library. Four more levels of hobocide to go.
