I'm in. Isn't it magical, having two landmarks at your doorstep? i'll watch any of the first three choices, though best of youth is... long. is it worth it? surely someone has seen it.

Voted for Bunuel. I had my eyes on that movie for quite some time now.

I consider the Landmark Theater that opened down my street last year (I believe it's the biggest independent theater in the U.S. with 12 screens and 4 fo them "living room" screens in which it's a smaller interior but there are leather comfy couches, love seats, etc. very awesome!) a gift, as Kathy Griffin would say, from baby Jesus. It's seriously my second home.

Re: The Foreign/Independent Movie Club
I have requested both Moolaade and Discreet Charm from the library, so hopefully I can get them and watch them within the next week or so. Now that I'm home I feel like catching up on my arty films.

Re: The Foreign/Independent Movie Club
The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie is the best film listed by quite a margin. It's a great pick for something like this.

Re: The Foreign/Independent Movie Club
I hate it when assholes put their "endorsement" in a poll as if we would get swayed by that. So for that I voted for Bunuel.

Re: The Foreign/Independent Movie Club
Ok so 2 things that I want to take care of: 1. I will probably be gone all of next week...so suggestions for next week!! Let me know so I can hopefully put a poll up before I go. Anyone and everyone. Dr. Lecter? 2. I will probably contact those who haven't replied in the Bourgeoisie thread yet but originally expressed interest in taking part of this in a couple of days. In the future, however, I don't want to feel like I'm spamming people's inboxes. So if you WOULD like to be reminded every time it's time to watch a new film, let me know here and I'll create a mini-list and let those on it know via PM every time a thread for a new film is up!! oh, and 3... Get to watching Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie, or post in the thread for it if you have done so already!

Re: The Foreign/Independent Movie Club
Hm...so since the issue here seems to be people being not being able to locate films quickly enough, do you think we should get to choosing the next/next few films?

Re: The Foreign/Independent Movie Club
I'm currently taking suggestions!! I don't really want to impose films of my choosing every time. snack, you were, however, one of the people that managed to get a copy of the film right? have you watched it?
