Waker of Winds wrote: Pineapple Express and Tropic Thunder won't gross over 30M on OW IMO, and Star Wars....I'm not sure how that movie will do, but I don't see any buzz at all for it. Its nothing compared to May/June/July levels of competition. Its the last "event movie" of the summer, that's what I was referring to. I agree with mummy 3 being last event movie of summer. Still tropic thunder and pineapple express could surprise.

Tropic Thunder looks much funnier than Pineapple Express. For all we know, Pineapple Express could turn out to be another Sarah Marshall

 Re: The Mummy 3 Predictions
I don't even see Pineapple Express pulling $100m+. It could, but I think it'll finish around $70-80m. It's not gonna attract audiences like Knocked Up and Superbad did. Tropic Thunder could do better.

 Re: The Mummy 3 Predictions
No, it looks like decent action fun and if it advertised well it could do over 150 million.
I see 45/120 million as of now at least.
This will cross 100 milliom imo....

I think it will do better than RH3 because it doesn't have a film like BU opening before it and I think the footage so far has been better than the footage RH3 released.
OW: 55m Total: 150m
Unless Tropic Thunder really breaks out, I think this will be the biggest film in August. You know I just found out that Mummy 3 has a 175 million prod. budget!!!!!!!!!

 Re: The Mummy 3 Predictions
this is gonna do well; this and PE aren't gonna hurt each other at all...it's PE and TT that are gonna take a bit of money off each other's total gross.
Mummy - 50 / 145
PE - 35 / 115
TT - 40 / 130

A friend of mine saw a sneak of this a few days ago and it has me in the mummy mood. His text only said "its what Indiana Jones should have been"
lets hope!

 Re: The Mummy 3 Predictions
$55 million Opening Weekend $165 million Domestic Total
I'm feeling it. The television campaign has been solid, Universal is on a roll, the trailer was appealing, and early tracking is very good. At worst, it will fall into the MI3/RH3 range.

 Re: The Mummy 3 Predictions
I have been saying it all along that at the end mummy 3 will be a cooler and more enjoyable flick than IJ4. IJ4 looked so boring from the trailers but mummy 3 has a 3 headed dragon, a yeti and fucking two armies of mummy going head to head. And ofcourse Brendan Fraser is always a treat when he does such movies.
Boxoffice wise it won't do even close to IJ4 worldwide but I am hoping it will make back its budget domestically. I really hope that china cesnor board allows to release it in china afterall the whole fucking movie was shot there and it will be a blow if it doesn't release there. Plus it could actually make a lot of money there thanks to Jet Li and Olympics.

I have been getting a big Tomb Raider 2 vibe but I see that I am way off and this looks like a decent summer blockbuster.

 Re: The Mummy 3 Predictions
I am calling this a surprise hit.
Sure the 2nd one was not that good however people love the series.
Plus there isn't a family adventure film left this year. Sure the competition is rough but not to harsh for it to open over 50 million.
I am calling for 50/145 million and it can go up.

 Re: The Mummy 3 Predictions
The Mummy 3 wasn't the greatest (though a masterpiece compared to the 2017 reboot), but interestingly had both Fraser and Yeoh in the cast.
Rachel passed on this one but the Mummy franchise now has 3 Oscar winners so would be fun to see them all reunite.
Lots of goodwill to Fraser right now so hope he does a new one. If IJ4 does really well feels like The Mummy rebooted could also do quite well. Bring back National Treasure while we're at it too.
