The finals spots haven't had much to offer in the way of new footage, but they don't have to considering the majority hasn't been keeping up with every bit of information released on the web.

I gotta say, I'm with the people who have a 100+ opening weekend and a 300+ total. I saw the trailer and it looks good, but also, I am surprised they didn't play up that it was Ledger's last role. That will kick in soon, and will really effect opening weekend, imo. I don't want to sound that callous about it, but I think its the reality of the situation.

Your not being callous about it at all. WB will play it up but do so subtly - probably using the media to generate that buzz (which they will).

Im getting the same vibes. Its destined for over $100m OW and with great summer weekdays finish well above $300m. Maybe enough to take the No.1 of the year title.

I'm also psyched they switched up Katie for Maggie. Its going to work much better. Katie makes my skin crawl.

I haven't been following this movie (b.o. or otherwise) but when I went to see Iron Man I saw the trailer. It looks really good again. I'm guessing this will be above mediocre, and that even if it was mediocre, the Ledger issue would lead to 1. A larger opening weekend due to curiosity (and nostalgia), and 2. Longer legs due to repeat viewing by the nostalgic. I remember when I was young being forced to watch The Crow multiple times because of some of my friends. Too bad I thought the movie was boring as sin, and that the legends around its production didn't fill the void.

Nah, even the biggest openers can have fine legs. Except SM3, but that sucked donkey balls.

A 3.2 multiplier is a bit of a stretch, but POTC2 was only two years prior and TDK will probably have better WOM.

Post Re: Batman: The Dark Knight Predictions
I wonder why I'm not that confident in The Dark Knight (box-office wise)?

Is it because it's once again a superhero movie that alienates the kid and family audience?

Is it because the internet's WOM of the film is vastly blown out of proportion? Let's put it this way. An increase identical to Pirates 1 to 2 would put it at 290-295 mil. And people are saying 330+ or even 350+ potential?

The best thing it has going for it is its release date, there's really not much direct competition. It's lucky there's no Harry Potter in the summer this year to bite on it.

I think it'll do well, increase over the first Batman film, but don't be surprised if its opening is around 80-85 mil and its total hangs around 240 or 245. A fine number still, just not crazy like everyone thinks.

Batman is so established that I can't see TDK blowing past BB, even though BB was as good as it could've been. Can't see this passing $300m unless we're dealing with nothing less than far and away the best superhero movie ever made.

Even that doesn't really mean much for box office. Batman Begins, if it grossed an amount equal to its quality, would have made $350+ million domestic. But it fell $145 million short of that, so I'd say box office and quality don't really mean much. Hell, Spidey 3 made $337 million and it's a piece of crap movie.

Now that is an awesome still. Can't say I didn't see something like that coming, though.

The interrogation scene looks incredibly promising. I can't wait for July 18 to get here.
